Massive Pac-man???

edited December 2011 in Games
I am convinced (although nobody has ever been able to back me up) that there was a version of Pac-man in which you went around as normal, doing the usual pac-man things but instead of power pills, there were things that looked like bolts - (the type you could find in Frankenstein's Monster's neck). When you ate one it made pac-man MASSIVE and he filled the screen eating things indiscriminately. Am I going mad? Please tell me this game existed in the arcades of yore.

    Hi mate
Super Pacman is the one where he becomes large and can (fly?) over ghosts and eat anything including doors which usualy require a key.

Thanks for that! I do have a distinct memory of 'bolts' however and I remember Pac-man growing bigger than he does in that video - maybe it was because at the time, my eyes were smaller?

Your eyes were the same size then as they are now.

I think I saw on a wildlife program once that the eyes of a mammal (humans, cats, wolves, etc) grow very little throughout the lifespan, and so the eyes provide a sort of indication of how old a creature is, to another member of it's species, as the larger the eyes are in relation to the head, the younger the creature is, and so it's instinctive in mammals to judge the age of a creature of their same species by it's eyes, and of course mammals are genetically programmed not to attack the young of their own species.

In a sort of similar way, you can tell if a creature is mainly predator or prey by the position of it's eyes, in that predators have both eyes at the front of the head, so they can focus on one spot, whereas animals that are mostly prey and so have to constantly watch out for predators have eyes that are place more on the side of the head, so that they can have a wider field of view, especially peripheral viewing.

Come to think of it, are the any animals that have a number of eyes other than two? Well, earthworms have none, spiders have eight eyes*, but are there any in particular that have just one eye or any other odd number, or any non-insect (or non-spider) that has more or less than two eyes?

    * "Most spiders have four pairs of eyes on the top-front area of the cephalothorax, arranged in patterns that vary from one family to another."

they are fully grown in humans for birth, hence why they are out of proportion and you , well grow into them.

Ah, a chance to use my thus-far pointless degree in Biology! Molluscs all have crazy eyes! Scallops have about 100 eyes, some molluscs have their eyes on the end of stalks, some along their shells, some in their feet, some have pin-holes for eyes and some don't have a head so you can't tell what part of their body their eyes are actually on.

The only animal in the world that has one eye is the trouser snake.
