48K Spectrum - or repair

edited January 2012 in Wanted
I just got a massive bundle of new old stock games which I need to try. Problem is some of them won't load on my +3 (it's always been rather picky).

I have a 48K rubber key with replacement membrane, problem is I reckon there's a memory fault as games crash when loaded and the bootscreen comes up.

What I would like is either:

a) My 48K spectrum repaired
or
b) to buy a 48K spectrum with a known good motherboard but dud membrane
or
c) to buy a good 48K spectrum
or
d) to buy just a known good spectrum 48K motherboard

Happy to pay by paypal, or as an alternative I have an AY magic module that I hardly use, which I may offer as a trade. RWAP sell them for ?40, mine has been altered by Zaxon so that it also works properly on +2/+3 machines.

Could anybody help with this? New I should have kept Macc's spectrum+, but the massive haul of teasure trove games makes it worth it.

Although I will understand if you prefer trading with somebody in your own country, I can offer you a working Spectrum board in exchange for that AY module (and/or can repair yours)

OK McLeod, thanks for that, it's a good offer. Can I bear it in mind at the moment and come back to you in a few days please? It is just because somebody may be able to do it here. Do you know roughly what the postage would be from Espana?

The cheapest option I can use is "standard mail", which is 6 euros for items with no more than 500g. A bubble bag with your Spectrum (just the PCB and the bottom case to protect the PCB from being bended) should do the job.

If you see that the information is in spanish, just go to the top-right of the page and make yourself welcomed ;)

Register letter, on the other way, is about 8,50 euros

Thanks McLeod for checking for me. I got back from work late last night and found that somebody in the UK can probably help, so we're just sorting out the deal. I would certainly remember you for the future though. Sorry you missed out on the AY module.
