Best Central Cavern Score?

edited February 2012 in Games
Just had a quick go, no lives lost, went like flynn around it and scored 1635 points, can anyone do better?

You could have saved a nanosecond or two on your jump right to left from the conveyor. Leave it till the last frame and jump straight to the middle platform

had a few goes, can't crack the elusive 1700 mark. 1692 my best score

    So you can! Here's a 1721: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLqiNgPHtzg

It reaches the clockwork monster at just the wrong time, and I can't see how you can avoid waiting. I suppose it may be possible to drop on to the conveyor a bit closer to gain a point or two.

Here's the SAM equivalent too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1V_3tOefckg

There's probably less slack in that one as I've played it a lot ;)

I wonder if I can get a better score by using an action script in ZXSpin? Can time jumps etc precisely that way :)

1723 in this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9fjQuHDUaYM)... seems hard to beat :-o

I'd be surprised if that one is beaten - Woody and I were messing around with this very task a few years ago, and his best score was 1723, iirc...

Nice 1723! There's still a fair amount of time to gain in the early part though, with some pixel-perfect jumps and turns. Could there be enough to drop to the left of the clockwork thing instead?

I had a few attempts at wearing down the falling platform so there was only a little left for the return trip, but my closest attempt still dropped a touch too soon and hit it. It might be something for Spin to test out, unless Dunny remembers trying that already.

I always seem to lose a life at Eugene's Lair, and I can only make it a few more screens farther on.

I have made it to the Solar Power Generator (19th level) a few times but could never get past it - always ran out of air

    1705

    kiss my face

edit, up to 1722 now, and I think over 1723 must be possible because I could've been a bit closer to that guy on the conveyer belt on the way back

it was the first game i ever completed on the spectrum
a few of the later levels can get quite hard
i always found the warehouse to be the hardest screen where precise timing is required

That used to be where I failed, until I found the trick of continuous jumping on the sinking platforms to give more time to judge other jumps. If I fail now it's usually on Skylab Landing Bay or Solar Power Generator.

Be interesting if Dunny can do that action script in Spin
