Another Spectrum meet, May 5-6

http://www.imperica.com/horizons

Looks like a date which may be worth keeping free in your diaries.

For avoidance of doubt, I'm not affiliated with this in any way, although Imperica have contacted me about it.

Some more details of the line-up have been posted:

    http://www.sci-fi-london.com/festival/2012/programme/event/horizons-celebration-30th-anniversary-zx-spectrum

Featuring... Winston and the Spectranet! Me, demonstrating how to write a Speccy chiptune in one hour! And MJ Hibbett playing some kind of song about 16K Spectrums that might have been mentioned on this forum at some point. What was that game with the tanks again?

So what's going on then? What's the venue? Is it a theatrical presentation, or an exhibition? There are start times of 11:30 and 12:30 alluded to in some sort of tw*tter linky thing, but how long? And who's going to be there on which days? I might make myself present but the information is all a bit vague.

Apologies if it's all a bit vague at the moment. Horizons is a 2-day event which features talks and sessions. There will be talks and presentations from a fantastic lineup of people (some of whom have already made themselves known :-) ) as well as an afternoon on Sunday where you can bring whatever kit you have (hardware, software, magazines... anything) and share your memories with others.

    What's the venue?

It will be in the Blue Room at the BFI Southbank in London.

There are start times of 11:30 and 12:30 alluded to in some sort of tw*tter linky thing, but how long?

The times are subject to change but it's around 11.30 - 5.30 on both days.

And who's going to be there on which days?

We'll be releasing the schedule this week at http://www.imperica.com/horizons.

Hope this helps - Please ask me if you have any further questions (either on the forum, by PM, or email horizons@imperica.com).

    Cheers,
    Paul

I shall be going along to this show on 5th May and have emailed around 2000 speccy users from my database!

The line up for the two days sounds interesting, and if anyone wants me to bring anything along for sale (on the Saturday only), then let me know (I have been allocated a little trading space outside the blue room).

Hope to see you all there.

I'm going to try and be there both days (trains willing), as I'd also like to see the Raspberry Pi. I notice that the Sci-Fi London link lists a Paul Verhoeven all-nighter going on too, but I think I'll head home to bed.

P.S. I'll be after a spare rubber Speccy keyboard matrix.

Any other takers? I am going to try both days but I've just seen the words 'bus replacement service' relating to the Sunday. I think I can get round it though.

I may actually dig through my drawer of conference badges to find a nametag if it'll help. I'm not too worried about being identified, at least by other Wossers. After all, possibly the only thing worse than being identified is not being identified...

Why oh why do I have to be so far away?
I'm seriously considering going to the one in Cambridge this September.

thats always the worry, they do the same BS every bank holiday in London.. should be fine though , due to the location.

I wouldn't have minded selling some games there tbh. I have a "few" *cough* doubles that I'd rather have the space back.

if anyone has a list of games they are after , let me know. I'll probably go both days, but am deffo going Saturday.

I meant this end. Fleet-Farnborough. Though I can just drive that far and park there instead; I'm fairly sure that's the only bit affected. I could also just drive to Woking, both days, as it seems to be only ?3 to park and I have to change there anyway. A shame, it used to be free at weekends...

I was on about the london side . as for parking, it's a nightmare around there (not to mention expensive probably). so leaving ya car a bit further out and training / busing it in would be better. http://g.co/maps/yk3jb

is handy also perhaps. for me, it's 1 hour each way on the underground . or about 1.5 hours without using it.
