I confirm everything of the above... I started playing it yesterday evening at about 8.30 pm and four hours later I was still scratching my head in the attempt to find a way to negotiate level 5-8...

If you enjoy brainteasers, this is an absolute must-have!!!!!

Just remember: Set the write protection to OFF (provided that the TRD file is not read-only), because the game sometimes writes data on the virtual diskette as well as reading it. Otherwise the dreaded message "Ignore, Retry, Abort?" could appear on your screen.

Where are you now, Alessandro ? I seem to remember a particularily tricky problem on the very same level. Is that the one where the playfield is something like this ?

How the fuck can I load TRD games????? I never been able and tried it thousands times,.. specially TargetRenegade and Zynaps..

anyone can tell me some comprehensive lessons to load a TRD games in some emulator?? My preferred is Spectaculator, btw.

I'm assuming you're running v5.x which doesn't support the beta disk interface (aka TR-DOS). That's only present in v6+ and it's just a case of File->Opening the .trd to load it.

Oh, I've solved it a long time ago. Note that I've bungled it, the diagram is not for that level, but I've solved both 5-8 and the level with that diagram. I'm now on the verge of completing 8-9.

Silly question: where can I find this game? Sinclair Infoseek gives some other game, and it is not in f-TRD section (http://www.worldofspectrum.org/tr-games/f.html).

Maybe because it's too recent - it was released on the 30th of last December, so it's possibly the newest Spectrum game as of now.

I can't get this to work. I have downloaded the trial demo of Spectaculator 6.0 and managed to get it to load and choose language etc. When I get to the bit where you choose a level, the screen goes blank and I get the message:

Read Only
Trk 58 sec 12
Retry, Abort, Ignore?

(this is not a Windows message, this is within the emulator).

Can anyone help?

If they are the GS enhanced versions, try using them with Unreal Spectrum. They work fine together on my system :)

It doesn't work in Emuzwin even though it supports TRDOS. I tried write protection on/off, turning off/on all kinds of options, and even 48K mode TRDOS, but no go.Any ideas anyone?

As I wrote above, it works perfectly with Real Spectrum, provided that a) the TRD file is not set to "read-only" and b) you disable write protection on the disk while using the emulator. Try that if you are stuck.

oops, missed this :( Those games, don't autoboot. you need to go into TR-DOS, LIST to see what files are on the disk, then RUN "<program name>". <program name> will have a <B> next to it to indicate a basic program. e.g. you'd RUN "CHASE+GS" for ChaseHQ.

OK, so how exactly do you get to play the game. I've downloaded it, loaded it into Spectaculator, but all I get up on screen is someting called Real Commander v1.9 and the rest of the screen is in Russian.

Go to the first .B file (use the cursors) indicated and press Enter. Or, to see the instructions, go to the second one and do the same.

Ahh, the version I had didn't have the first option. I downloaded it again and it works fine.

However, for my next question, how do you exit a screen to retry it if you mess it up?

What a Masterpiece!

Certainly one of the best Spectrum games I have ever played, with special effects I would never have believed possible. So well designed and playable.

I haven't had so much fun since Lemmings first came out. ;)

Any chance of extra levels?
