olympic torches for sale?
just had a look on ebay..
in 2 minds about it.. people offering a poultry amount to charity as some come back is rather weak.. 10%.. so what.. (no doubt they'll claim it back as a donation for their tax also)
I think it's a bit off key they even got the torches IF they were going to sell em at highly inflated prices. they should have signed a contract to say they would have to give 80% of the money raised from any sale BACK. people were moaning they couldn't afford the ?200 asked for them, but no doubt tax payers are paying the other ?300 that each one is costing, yet don't get any "profit" from the sale..
on the other hand, it's all the toffs and none Londoners who got tickets in the main for the decent events / finals , simply coz they could put ?40k+ on tickets (they should have capped that) . while Londoners got the crumbs, yet we are the mugs paying for it.
soo in that respect , if people are selling, hopefully it's not so well off folk as well as the toffs basically rinsing it. sooner it's over , the better.. ?200 fine for driving in a certain lane is a joke for a start.
I do think they have done a great job at alienating londoners and scr-wing them over in the process.. e.g. even kids going, that changed once they won it... odd that
it's a big con, waste of money when they country is supposed to be tightening it's belt.. lets see how many white elephants are left after it's done with , as with many other countries.

nah , scrabble I can spare or perhaps a chequered flag.. I should really get DT to sign one of my 15 copies of decathlon hehe
I just think the vast majority of Londoners were bulldozed into something they didn't want, which was a pack of lies (check the costings ) and more importantly didn't want to pay for while others benefited from, regardless of it's a nice little job.. e.g. Lord Coe or tickets for the toff's.. e.g. Boris (who had the front to moan he didn't get tickets.. but no doubt will be going to LOTS of events)
I would have given them a (far cheaper) memento / smaller torch and flogged the main ones for charity etc.. public money has funded the torches , NOT private enterprise.. although from what I understand, the coca-cola ones, the folk didn't have to chuck in the ?200.
Do you know, if you met him he probably would, I met him years ago, a really top bloke!
All I can say is I didn't realise they were passing though Merthyr Tydfil.

errm does he get a torch for doing it ? errm does he even hold a UK passport ffs. perhaps he can tell his "country men" at the US embassy to pay up the millions they owe in congestion charges
Indications are it's not a very good investment
