advice on DVD editing programs
with part of the money I got from wedding gifts, i just got me a new computer, a mac book pro.
I'm going to do some freelance video editing jobs (I'm getting final cut pro X next month, right now I'm using FCP7).
One of the things I need to do is to take small clips from dvd's (to show in classes for once). I've googled a few softwares... but what do you guys recommend?

... Free video editor for Linux
... And if you don't have Linux running on your computer, you can download AVLinux, which is a live cd. Advantages of it: Give you a superb video editor without having to install anything on your computer. You just burn the ISO image to disc, go into your computers BIOS and tell it to boot off the CD.
AV Linux you can find here:

All the above is free open source software that will do the job superbly without having to pay for Commerical software :)
Ripping DVD's:
Use OGMRip - Linux only, but a superb ripper, and one of the best I used. Totally free :) Can be found and installed using Synaptic Package manager.
