Spy Hunter - Issues

edited July 2012 in Games
I have been playing this good old game from US Gold, and found myself with some questions...

I have realized that in the rzx. files, the helicopter always appears before the Detour bridge...while in the version Im playing (Erbe), the Helicopter is the last thing you do before you reach a new level (desert or ice).

Also, there are 2 rzx. files, and in one of them, the player reaches until level 3 and complete it and then he stops the recording. In the other one, the player completes the 4th one and then he lets himself die. So, how many levels, officially, does the game have? Level 4 is level 2 but I see a slight difference in the sprite of the trees, since they have green sprites inside, while the trees of level 2 are red inside...also the green car can shoot at you...so, maybe this level should consider as another different one?
In the map from Microhobby magazine, only the first 3 levels are mapped...

Good game, and very good memories I have of it ;)

If I remember correctly, Spy Hunter is an endless game, so that's why there are two rzx files, ending in different levels.

Microhobby included it on a tape. That release had a standard loader instead of turbo load in Erbe Software release (great, if you want to put it on a +3 disk).

I wonder if there are more differences...

Also, remember that Spyhunter is an endles game (it has NO levels, only different backgrounds), and I wonder if internally it uses a RNG. Maybe the RNG initialize after loading the game, so the time passed after you start the computer may lead to different levels/behaviours. In an emulator (with autorun) that time will be fixed, so some behaviours will be the fixed too.
    I was there, too
An' you know what they said?
Well, some of it was true!

Hmmm interesting. For the record, I am using the Erbe release in a real +2A.
It is indeed an endless game, but the 4th level is what puzzles me, because of the rzx recordings...
