Sentinel = Amigo = Tommy Barreira Pereira?
If I'm correct, Sentinel and Amigo are Tommy Barreira Pereira's nicknames.
According to Amigo's website, he has made a loading screen to Platform Game Designer, Rough Justice, Arachno Joe and mini-demo "Dizzy Zone demo".

As far as I understood from earlier posts, he is indeed originally Portuguese, but moved to the US before creating the screens.
I thought what it was indicated in every individual was his actual nationality, regardless the country he lived in at the moment, but I see I was wrong :)
If someone moves to a different country, his/her nationality changes accordingly (unless Tommy didn't get a green card, in which case I need to change the record again!). ;-)
But actually I would prefer to stay in the database as spanish since makes more sense to me :)
Funny what you find after being away for so long. I was just looking for a copy of Arachno Joe by Dinu with my graphics and loading screen in it (which isn't in the archive - only the 4k competition version of Arachno Joe is there AFAIK) because I lost a lot of my old files.
For the record I was born in the USA (no Bruce Springsteen pun) My ascendancy is directly Portuguese, I speak the language and moved there for five years, which is when I got the Spectrum almost at the end of its life and got to play around on a Timex Sinclair and Sam Coupe, too. Then I moved back to the USA. I think I have dual citizenship but I'm not sure (pff, I should know, but I don't! I was 10). Both political states allow it. You can put me down as American. It makes no difference to me. Most of the stuff (if not all) I did for Spectrum that is here was done while living in the united states anyway. Besides anyone can guesstimate my heritage by my last name but that's neither here nor there anyhoo.
I noticed I got credit in the archive for little things like loading screens or whatever. Not sure I deserve any credit. But if that's the convention here, to get a mention for being involved no matter how humble the contribution, then there are some things in the archive that should have my name on them that don't. I'll try to make a list later. I also have things I plan to add to the archive here, like Sid Spider stuff, a better image of the Rough Justice inlay (if I can find it) and whatever, it's just hard to get around to.
Also, just realized tonight that I'm credited as "Sadako" on the Gem Machine game by Tony Thompson but that nickname isn't linked to my real name. (Gosh so many aliases. I'm starting to look like a psychopath!)
PS. If possible please take the "Barreira" out of my name. It is my middle name but it's long and I think it's an eye sore (maybe it was my fault, it could be I submitted something under that name but I can't remember)
Thanks!
Do you still have any spectrum/Timex in the USA?
Hi, Ivan.
Nope. My +2 gray is sitting in an aunt's house overseas in her basement or something. I haven't seen it in 20 years. But I do have all my cassettes and books here with me. Unfortunately I'll be getting rid of those soon.
The Timex belonged to a cousin. It was the Portuguese version. Forgot what it was called exactly. TC2068? It was silver looking I think. Had multicolor ability. Probably first Spectrum games I played on it were Bruce Lee, Yie Ar Kung Fu, Spy Hunter, Way of the Exploding Fist and Chuckie Egg (maybe Manic Miner but it was such a long time ago when I was 7 or something) but can't remember what order. These ran on the Timex using an emulator (I guess you could say that the first times I ever played Spectrum game was with emulation!) I think I saw that computer before I ever saw a 48k rubber keyed Spectrum (owned by a classmate, who later got a Sam Coupe early cause his father worked at the post office and *somehow* he managed to get one. I don't know what was going on there with that, just because he worked at the post office, but he had one. Didn't last him very long. This was all in the last days!)
What about you do you have your Spectrum and your tapes?
PS. The Timex was available in the USA as Timex Sinclair. Not as popular here, I don't think.
I have my Spectrums and tapes split between Spain and Germany, but more in Spain. Sometimes I manage to play here, but its quite hard with a baby and other obligations.
I'm still a child :) The games and computer are split up between countries like you. Only the Spectrum isn't here. The software is all in the next room in a box including a crap load of magazine cover tapes somewhere. There are maybe some things on some of those tapes I made myself but as far as any utilities/games I already TZX'd and uploaded a bunch of MIAs to the TZX Vault years ago, including Spanish games. There could be something was missed but... Unfortunately some of the stuff I TZX'd eventually became distribution denied, like Howard the Duck. All of the tapes are going to get trashed most likely. I might still have the cable a friend and I made to load games through the printer port on a PC but either way they could be recorded going line-in. I don't have the patience to go through all of it again, especially since I didn't keep a note of what I did or didn't TZX and WOS and TZX Vault don't say who did what .
Not really, but honestly I wouldn't want to! :) wouldn't create anything otherwise. Emulators make everything easier. Probably would only run the real thing once in a while or just for games.
I bet sometimes you say "Damn, the one I want to play is in Spain why didn't I bring it?" As far as obligation, that's where emulators become handy, you can sneak in a bit here and there!
