Retrocomputing shops in London

edited November 2012 in Chit chat
From 9th to 13rd January I will be in London.
Anyone knows some Sinclair oriented vintage PC shop or a "interesting" flea market that I can visit?

Thanks in advance

none really, there isn't enough money in it and those who do, mainly consoles etc.

There used to be a brilliant game shop just around the corner from Googe Street tube station. Not really retro, but was a great place for imports, promo's and cheap 2nd hand stuff. Sadly, that's now shut. CEX also had it's own retro shop, but that too closed many years ago and it's short lived retro basement was just that. Very short lived :-(

I went there, it was "ok" but rents kill such business .. and not a lot of point when there is ebay.

The only place I can think of is Retro Game Base over in Stretham, South London: http://www.retrogamebase.co.uk

It's mainly consoles but they do stock Speccy, Amstrad & C64 stuff too.

Well they advertise in Retro Gamer magazine so hopefully they have enough funds to keep going for a bit longer :)

slight off topic, but even here, up t'north people find it difficult flogging retrogames. We had quite a few shops around where I live but they have all gone, Retro now means buying old games for the Wii, very rarely PS2 games may come up for sale. Quite sad really.

Don't know if you are coming from Uk or abroad.

Nothing for sale, and a bit far from London, but I can recomend you visitng the Retro Computer In the midlands.

None that I'm aware of. Just the charity shops and Cash Converter places, but they mostly sell (unsurprisingly) PS2 games.

Quick Plug ... From London we are closer than Manchester at the Museum of Computing in Swindon. (I'm the guide there hence why it's a plug)

I was in there about 4-5 months ago - about a week after they had opened, and it seemed like a mess, but in all fairness they were still getting sorted. I didn't see anything I personally wanted to buy though, but they did have a lot of stuff there.
