There are so many Speccy related logos and other stuff that would be so nice to have proper Illustrator files for. The site the Keyboard came from have the Crash logo too in Illustrator form. I did the Ultimate Play the Game logo the other day, which was complicated. I deleted that, but may try again when I have time.
How are the faceplates printed? Are they just Aluminium with a printed adhesive part overlaid?
Yes they are (using a 3M adhesive) - although the factory applies the printed adhesive part (the overlay) as obviously positioning it by hand would be extremely difficult!
Microdigital TK85 - Black overlay with ZX81 commands - Microdigital logo in bottom right corner
Microdigital TK90X - Black overlay with ZX Spectrum commands - Microdigital logo in bottom right corner and some other differences
Is there still time to order some like that? What's the minimum order?
A slightly off-thread question:
Do you have keyboard membranes for the TK95?
I am talking to the company about how they could do different graphics, but they want to try and do it as a new job for each overlay - which means new setup costs each time (!)
We don't have any replacement membranes for the TK95 - we would need a keyboard and membrane to see - but the chances are that they will cost around ?20-?25 as there can surely only be a very small market for these!
We have had numerous discussions with the company and seen several samples - in the end, it looks as though we will be using black anodised aluminium, with an adhesive overlay (applied by the manufacturer).
The samples look really good - in reality, it is now a case of me getting enough funds together to pay for the production (subject to a few dottings of i's and crossing of t's).
The final price looks to be around ?18 a faceplate.
Would people be willing to pre-order to help fund production?
Is it possible to get a faceplate without the overlay stuck on?
Actually, that should not be too much of a problem - as the samples so far just have a black overlay :) - do you want just the plain faceplate (black anodised), or with the plain black overlay - the latter is needed to make the faceplate the correct finish to fit with the Spectrum (ie slightly shiny)...

Step up to red alert. Sir, are you absolutely sure? It does mean changing the bulb!
Looking forward to summer in Somerset later in the year :)

Any update on how things are progressing? I have a couple of machines in dire need of faceplates
Thanks!

I very much doubt it. As Rich has already said, the supplier would be looking for separate setup costs for each variation of the template.
Carry on!
