Wilderland - A Hobbit Environment
While playing The Hobbit have you ever asked yourself what's really going on in this wonderful world created by Philip Mitchell and Veronika Megler in 1982 at Melbourne House?
Now it's time to find out! -- WILDERLAND (WL) runs the original game code in a rudimentary Spectrum emulator, while displaying the state of objects and animals, the current positions of the latter, and a log what all the other creatures (NPC) do while Bilbo is in one place.

Unfortunately, can't get fullscreen on my 1366x768 laptop and in native resolution half the map is off the bottom of the screen - any way of munging that?

After reading interviews about the similarities between the entities (people, objects) in the Hobbit I always wondered whether it would be possible to muck about with the code to make inanimate objects into characters walking about etc..
Would be nice to have each section of the screen in its own window, even on my 1080p monitor it doesn't quite all fit without looking squashed.
Did I say great work?
I think it would be quite disturbing to have things such as the chest, door or window wandering around :D :o
Bytes:Chuntey - Spectrum tech blog.
Good idea - I just tried it. Made the wooden chest alive and gave her Gandalf's character profile...

Hi everybody who is only half-happy with the graphical representation! I know it's not perfect, but it took me much too long to get even this trade-off between legibility and information density. It was designed for my 1280x1024 screen (so I would expect it to work in non-fullscreenmode on a 1080p screen).
If someone who is more experienced with graphics wants to do it: feel invited; the sources are on the webpage! ;)
AND: don't forget to use -NOSCANLINES (your eyes will thank you!)
