Thanks guys,
Not the first time people have done that, so keep em peeled (remember Police 5!). A few eligit versions of the zzap64 set appeared about a year ago also :)
Many thanks Mort
Ps the Su project is nearing completion, hope you all have enjoyed the work so far :)
Really? For the sole benefit of the sinclair community by selling them for ?20? I very much doubt that's to cover costs. I'd say that's about ?18 profit on each one actually even if you add postage and when you consider he didn't create the magazines himself and just scanned them in what's the big deal about one appearing on ebay?
Yes, sure, it's a lot of work to scan them in, but so was all the work putting the magazines together in the first place. Maybe the original owners of the mag should receive the ?18 on each one sold? In the same way that it was a lot of work I'm sure to put write all of the spectrum games that I'm sure you'll have snapshots of on your hard drive that you never paid for. Especially the ones that have been denied distrubution.
Either way, I've taken it down to save argument. You can now go and post this over at WOS.
It would be more interesting if you turned off collision detection on yourself. That way, the bullets and angry people would just pass through you, hee hee!
Thanks for backing me up on this one again guys, at the end of the day it takes me around 6 months to collect all the mags,2-3 hours a day scanning!(well 10-12,000 pages take a bit of time to do) much time on ebay and around ?200-250 in hard cash, even more time driving down the post office to collect the issues they fail to knock on the door with(about 2 miles). Finding the server space to give people the option to download the issues for free, Martijn is a God ;)and likewise Iain who hosts all the ZZaps albeit in rotation on the http://www.zzap64.co.uk site)and Cpc oxygen will be hosting the Amtix`s when they relaunch as well as the Amstrad Actions they currently hold.
The whole point was and still is to make them as widely available as possible and please give copies to your friends if they would like to get a fix of nostalgia(opens the floodgates :)as we all like to remember the good old days, if people do buy sets it is genuinly to help me continue with new projects and as a thankyou for the time and effort involved), now must go and park my Rolls Royce with my vast"profit",well F reg Nissan Sunny! :p
The odd sales I do make gets ploughed back into the remaining Su`s and backburner projects, postage both ways for borrowed issues, and maybe just a little beer (alright a lot)to keep me sane staring at a computer for 8 hours a day at work and another 2-3 early morning and evening.
Pj your mags are nearly scanned now, cheers again for the great help in sourcing a lot of the later issues and tapes.
Now must get on with issue 69 :)
PS any ideas for future stuff to do as I have exhausted all the main Speccy mags, am looking into finishing the Games Machine,Starting on Personal Computer Gamer, C&vg from the eighties (nineties are unintresting), possibly Zero,Amiga Force, Commodore User PS CU1 is now up on http://www.zzap64.co.uk (cheers Iain :)).
Time to start scanning again zzzzz

C&VG gets my vote to Mort, up until say, 1992. After 1992, it's duff, because they changed the way they printed screenshots, making them blocky and ugly, and they are still done that way today. That's why GBAdvance screens look terrible in mags.
So C&Vg into the early nineties - easy!
Thanks Sard,
I will warn Martijn and upload the missing pages (must have been when my machine occasionaly crashes due to being a windoze 98 Piii beastie).
I am getting the 1st 3 issues to scan this weekend of C&vg, what I might do is stick them on as a bonus onto the Su dvd when I get round to doing it and will ask Martijn if he could host maybe the 1st C&vg as it is interesting though not speccy related as the spectrum hadn`t appeared till a year later :)
I am also working through some ql users as an accomplement for the su`s. Can`t start finalising the cd/dvd`s though until I get the last 2 issues I need and some missing pages, namely issues 14 and su annual86. Then its just the odd poster which can always be uploaded at a later date and not all that essential (especially when they were often printed on the cover as a preview!).
Please DON'T take offence at my question here, as I think your Crash/YS CDs are superb (both purchased from your good self)..
Do you happen to have any scans of the tips sections from SU at a slightly higher DPI than is on your CDs?
The reason I ask is that I'd like to OCR them, but the Crash/YS ones were just too low a resolution for any of my OCR packages to see properly, and I assume the SU ones will be the same.
If you haven't fair, do's - just thought I'd ask :)
Sadly they are of the same resolution, but I have got all hint cards done at higher res, email me if you would like the complete set.
Cheers Mort
Just waiting for a couple of more issues and the su set will be complete ;), I think around 35 are currently available to download on the site so you may be able to check the scans for ocr compatability there.
Difficult one really, obviously the guy who is selling them on ebay is taking the p*ss but then again you could say all the original crash scans, just like the guy said, none of that money is going back to the original publisher.
I've actually bought a few cd's from this place...
Mort scans the sets himself. Thats tens of thousands of pages of slow repetitive work.
Mort makes the sets FREELY available on WOS for the benefit of the community.
Mort makes the odd sale of a set , the money going towards ( ok the odd beer but also ..) the magazines needed to complete the sets. These days they aint cheap !
In short mort has never made a profit on his work , in fact the opposite , its without doubt cost him !
Mr ebay guy ?
Mr ebay guy leeches morts work ,sticks it on DVD and offers it for sale.
Mr ebay is after a profit full stop.
How many ex-Crash employees get money from these scans ?
How many roms have you got on your computer which arent freeware ? How many mp3's etc ? I'm sure most of us have the Ultimate games despite not being freeware.
Dont get me wrong i think that guy on ebay was taking the p*ss as it was someone elses hardwork but i'm sure we're all hypocrites when we have tons of roms, console roms and mp3's on our computers.
Comments
(I already have!)
If I get a reply, I'll do a cut n paste for you to see..
Item withdrawn. I feel like a bigger challenge now. Who's gonna vote me into power?
Not that there's anything wrong with that I suppose.
Not the first time people have done that, so keep em peeled (remember Police 5!). A few eligit versions of the zzap64 set appeared about a year ago also :)

*puts gun down*
was gonna have me some fun there
I can also press my nipples and choose which room I go to, walk through walls & kill on touch any baddies.
Necros!
Can't be too long now before I am mapped, and had my theme tune ripped - which I may add is very painful.

Yes if i had the time i probably could find 500 Atari ST games for the emulator i am using etc but for 10 quid or so it saves me a ton of time.
Same for the MAME games really. Difficult one to answer whos in the right and whos in the wrong really
