Rubbish films that only you seem to like.

edited February 2013 in Chit chat
After reading the 60's Sci-Fi thread I thought about a few films that I really like and most people think are utter boob.

Here are mine:

Damnation Alley
Krull
Suburbia
The incredible melting Man
Q the Winged Serpent
Twins of Evil
The sword and the sorcerer
Carry on Abroad
The Monster Club
Night of the demon (my wife thinks it's cack!!! How very dare she!)

I can watch all the above films again and again and again.

Zardoz. I always thought it was pretty cool, but my Wife is disgusted that it even exists.. (Think it blew her 'sexy' image of Sean Connery out of the water.. :) ).

Here's a funny little review of it..

not so much films that no one else likes, but that no one else likes to the extent that I like them

I think Twins is Arnold Schwarzeneggar's best film
I like the Critters films better than the Gremlins films, even though they're a rip off of Gremlins
I think Species is the greatest sci-fi horror of all time

Is that the one with Don Johnson in? If so, then I've seen it. It's very very odd. Don't they want him to be the 'seed provider' or something like that for the underground people?

    Hawk the Slayer.
    Flight of Dragons.
    Ralph Bakshi's Wizards.
    The kindred.
Basket Case (all 3 of them :D).
    Society.
    The Brood.
    Starchaser: The Legend of Orin.
Zone troopers (Rubber aliens and Nazis what more could you ask for?).
    Eliminators.
    Arena.
Space Raiders (Possibly called Space Pirates?).
Wizards of the Lost kingdom (It's so so terrible that it's good ).
The Female vampire (It's a Jesus Franko movie, it's crap and only 1 step down from practically being a porno, but I like it for some weird reason?).
Psychomania (Let's face it, it's sh*t, and the main baddy is that old woman who always used to play characters called things like Beryl, and always seemed to be baking cakes for people ).
Driller Killer (OK! It's really terrible, but I like it, don't know why?).
    Kentucky Fried Movie.
    Legend of the Golden Pearl.
    The Last Dragon.
Lust in the Dust (It has Devine in it, that should just automatically tell you it's awful ).
    18 Fingers of Death.
    I'm gonna git you sucka!
    Brother from another planet.
Iron Lord (can't even find this on the internet, there's a russian film from a few years back with the same name? But the one I'm on about is crappy swords and wizards type movie).
Deathstalker (I couldn't even find this on the internet at one time, but it's up on IMDB now, it's really really sh*t, didn't even know it had 2 sequels? How the f**k did that happen? :o).

I know I like several more crappo flicks as well, but I'll be here all day trying to remember them if I don't just stop typing right now

EDIT: Haha! Mel mentioned The Stuff, how could I forget about that one? "Are you eating it? Or is it eating you?" classic!

Reminds me of another I missed from my list...

Street Trash, that movie is so so awful, but it's funny as well :D

Right, get out... *hands mile his coat* ;)

I like The Godfather III, despite it clearly being the weakest of the three, and despite the fact that Sofia Coppolla is a terrible, terrible actress (good director though)...

Starship Troopers is a love or hate film. It seems to be how geeky you are as to how much you like it!

I really like Airheads although everyone seems to hate it. Does Steve Buscemi actually appear in really crap movies?

I don't really like Airheads much, but you reminded me of another pretty crap flick I do have a bit of a soft spot for.

    Empire Records :D

    Hawk the Slayer.

I was about to say Hawk as well. Amazing soundtrack!
  • edited January 2013
    Hawk the Slayer is ace!!!

There is some film I seem to remember where there was a bloke walking through a desert and he finds a bloke living in a huge pot of oil. This is apparently so his 'man goods' wither and fall off. It was on Channel 4 in the mid to late 80's. For some reason I thought it was called 'The Magic Flute' but it clearly wasn't as that was some kids film.

    Anybody any ideas?

The Female vampire (It's a Jesus Franko movie
Got this. the star has no shame, so explicit its actually weird. Not sure if I actually like it or not tbh...

Yeah the masturbating in a bath full of blood while her mute gimp lurks around watching her is a little bit odd to say the least.

It's Jesus Franko's (Jess Frank) wife Lina Romay, he made a movie with her also called "Lulu's talking arse".

I suggest against watching it.......ever!

Oh she got naked in a horror flick that was made sometime in the last 10-15 years, she was about 65 at the time....ergh! No need for it......ever!

That Riddick movie from nearly a decade ago, not the first one where he was introduced.

Apparently it was a flop at the movies, and most people talk about it as being terrible. I thoroughly enjoyed it, the ending was just plain great (imho :p )
