Trying to remember one or two old game names

For some reason the names Renegade and Vigilante come to mind though its not those 2 games.

I remember you started on a street with thugs and you had to find a key to get into a garage or something to continue to next stage.

It wasnt a beat em up, I think you could get weapons though to attack thugs and move in all directions so not left to right.

Thats the one, I had the feeling it began with a V.

There is one or two other games I liked but for the moment the description of them has slipped from my mind.

This one may be harder, I believe it was a pirate based game where you sailed a ship but could also dock and walk around town and buy supplies and avoid enemies, the town parts were overhead.

It probably is, the name sounds familiar and I know I got the game free from a magazine tape, probably just memory failing me as I though the entire game bar using the ship was shown from above.

Thanks for that too, just trying to remember some great games from my childhood(only stopped playing spectrum around late 1997 when I was in final year of school and at same time got a ps1 and sega saturn)

was it blackbeard ? that was a spanish game, re-released by kixx.. but also appeared on a mag tape

The ship part was overhead, but the city was viewed from side.
