Swift Disk Emulation

edited March 2013 in Emulators
In the past couple of weeks there have been two (to my knowledge) Swift disk systems come up on Ebay. Nowhere can I find roms for such a beautiful system, or indeed much info on it either. I don't suppose then that any of our usual emulators have anything to play around with.

There is some info at usual places:

It was quite a nice little interface - which unfortunately came out about the same time as the Disciple ... I actually remember seeing it at an all-format show or microfair - and was tempted to buy one (I didn't buy it though - I went for a Plus D in the end... at the same show in Blackpool where the original SAM Coupe prototype was demo'd)
    No one important.

I did take a look at the ROMs of both 1 & 2 near the end of last year, but didn't get a full understanding of it.

It looked like a typical WD17XX variant chip with the ROM split into 4K chunks with the maddest paging system I've ever seen...

Another interesting thing was that commands were finished by an NMI, so no arbitrary timing loops. It looked like multiple lines could trigger an NMI though, which made it harder to track what was going on.

Sadly, I was sidetracked and didn't complete my investigation.

Having read an article on it, it was the Microdrive emulation that got me interested the most. Also the fact that it was encased in an Interface 1, which is genius!
