EDL and their ilk are just tossers....in some ways it's prob best they don't get given any publicity

No, these...elements need to be challenged on every point of view they have and their "logic" must be disproved. Make no mistake, these groups give some individuals a means to act out their "best ideas" - our worst nightmares, and some lone wolfs use it as inspiration.

Bugger me the EDL are at it again.

....and once again the story is on CNN.

It's weird seeing so much coverage of events in the North of England on an American Channel and website.

My local newsagent told me this morning he's been suffering from intimidation since the Woolwich attack. He's not a bad bloke, he's always been nice to me and anyone who comes in his shop - he even ordered in Retro Gamer at my request.

thats the thing, almost all muslims you meet in your daily life are the same as everybody else, just sometimes a different colour and slightly different way of living, most are hard working, law abiding family men / women, but the idiots refuse to see that, they must see suicide vest wearing, uzi toting jihadists everytime they go to the local corner shop or get on a bus Oo

oh and help for heroes have announced they will refuse any donations collected by known EDL members, they obviously dont want the name of the charity tarnished by being associated with known violent right wing / racist / islamophobic / neo nazi (delete as applicable) thugs

    I second this!

My local grocers back home is owned by this really cool little Muslim dude called Mohammed, who's had racial bull**** simply because of his name. It's not even spelled the same way the Prophet's is spelled, but because of that he gets sh*t. My ma tells me he's had his shop egged several times in the last few years, and worse from what I understand. I used to buy a lot of curries, and Asian side dishes from his store because he would get them in fresh daily. He's a really nice guy, hasn't caused any harm to anybody, but he has to suffer the bullsh*t simply because he has that name, a beard and dresses in the traditional Muslim way.

Him and his staff close every friday for prayer in the afternoon, but at one time he used to have this old man run the shop for him, this old man was white, but used to get grief for being a "Paki Sympathiser", from what I understand him and Mohammed have been friends for many years.

    It's a shame really :(

Yeah, a muslim mate of mine posted this on his Facebook...shows there are some level headed people about, and dialogue is not impossible between peoples at opposite ends of an argument.

    Some hope maybe?

The one thing in the article was the "About six people turned up to protest" bit of the second paragraph...I can imagine there was 2 reporters were there and 1 said "Oh my God, there's a horde of people here to protest!!", then the second says "Holy shizzle! How many?" so the first replies "hard to say, but I'd estimate somewhere between 5 and 7..."
