"Aspar" also released in the UK

edited June 2013 in Infoseek database
As per this ebay auction:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sinclair-ZX-Spectrum-game-Grand-Prix-Master-Aspar-GP-Master-Dinamic-48k-/290935128298?pt=UK_PC_Video_Games_Video_Games_JS&hash=item43bd15c0ea

this doesnt correspond to any Spanish releasem it is the same type of release that Dinamic used to do in the UK with other games.

First time I see this, quite rare!

Hi Ivan, thanks for the mention of my auction!
It is mentioned as an alias in the infoseek entry (http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0000285) but I think it's a fairly hard to find release all the same... and priced quite reasonably I feel! :D

    Different loading screen...needs preserving.

I think it's already archived. The Spanish original looks like the box cover, the re-release ditches Aspar for a logo instead.

True, you are right, Rich, looks like it was already in the archive, although the re-release then, should be changed for Dinamic (UK) ??

Not sure about that. I'm fairly sure that all the other Dinamic English versions are just generally mixed in with the original Spanish ones and without skimming through all my scans (not with me currently) I don't know if Dinamic (UK) is correct either as not sure if there was a separate company as such. I *think* they were released via a third party software house but only for logistical reasons.

The easiest way to spot the English versions on Dinamic games is by looking at the inlays section as there's normally 2 (or more) variations. I suppose this one is slightly different in that the title is different but I'd say that it's probably already indexed fine as it is as the name appears in brackets in the additional files section etc.

Hmm, but as far as I know, in the re-releases, inside the brackets you have to indicate the country of release, not the country of the company which releases. For example, Infogrames is a french company and all their releases are listed as UK inside the brackets, as those games were released in the UK, originally (we think), so in this case, a Spanish company released a game in the UK, so shouldnt it be (UK)? Just wondering :)

I'm not sure either then in that case. I guess whatever the rule is then it needs to applied universally.

This might not be any help at all but I've just had a look at my scans for the "UK" releases I've got and dug out the following info....

    Grand Prix Master
Tape body says "Made in England" on it
Only company name mentioned on the inlay is "Microdigital Soft S.A. Dinamic"
    No address, no country given

    Astro Marine Corps
Other than Dinamic logo I can't find any company name or references on the box or instructions but tape has:
Produced by: MISOFTSA, LTD. (which I assume is same abbreviated version of Microdigital Soft S.A.

    Narco Police
Box and instructions 100% English, tape label was in Spanish. Just had Dinamic logo on

    Game Over II
    Microdigital Soft, S.A.
Dinamic is registered trademark of Microdigital Soft, S.A.
That's all it says... Oh, the tapes are "Made in England" as well... and Imagine wrote the C64 version of Game Over I and they have the copyright on it (apparently). But we won't mention the C64, eh? :p

As I said, none of the above might be relevant if it's only country of release that we're bothered by but since I'd looked it all up before reading your post above I thought I may as well post my "findings" anyway! :-)
