Not in the normal sense (as in the 48k mod) theres a bit more to it but for the life of me I cant remember the link but I think guesser knows (chip in fella)
yep, that's basically what I did to mine. I used my usual BC548 for the transistor and built it inside a modulator can but otherwise the same as ben's pdf.
The important part is detaching the FM sound modulator by removing C24.
If you never intend to restore the RF modulator etc then I personally advocate killing the FM modulator entirely - the easiest way is to desolder IC10. This stops the 6MHz oscillator entirely which just removes another source of interference.
