What a dummy. You'd think he'd known who his neighbour was/is.
not really, I only know of my neighbours mainly because 4 sets of em are problematic.. people rent and move about more or keep odd hours at work and in big cities folks keep to their own circle of friends a lot of the time.
there were other cases where the house owner took charge.. and got in a lot of trouble themselves as it was beyond "reasonable force"
True enough fog. There was a time when I knew all of my neighbours. But a few years back the rental complex changed hands and the new management participates in what is called "section 8 housing. It means".they basically can not deny anyone and are being partially paid by the government to "accept" low income or people off of the streets. As soon as the old neighbours became aware of the change of clientele, they slowly removed themselves from their rental leases and these were people who had lived here a long time some two decades. Now I'm the last of the dodos, have lived in this building for over a decade and in the same neighbourhood for nearly two decades. I am not happy with having dealers living in my building or rowdy drunkards but these are changing times I guess. Too bad it's for the worse.
Oh, and yeah, I have absolutely no interest in getting to know my neighbours. They aren't going to stay here longer than a few months or maybe a year at the most. And this is the first time in my life I find myself to be picky about whom I choose to speak with i y surroundings.

saw this the other day, this Section 8 thing seems like a bad idea
It reminds me of this article from two days ago.

It's in Danish, though, but you can always run it through Google Translate if you want to read it.

Well, I have no problems with helping people who have fallen on hard to times to get a leg up. I am glad there are projects in place for that ... but when it comes to people abusing the system generation after generation, that's not cool, yo!
PS Whatever that extra bit was you posted there doesn't work on this end :-(
Oh, never mind, copied the code and put it in youtube and got this: "This video does not exist."
Yeah, I technically have nothing against the assistance project itself but it's weirdly odd how projects like it appear to be a magnet for hoodlums and neighbourhood "terrorists".
EDIT: Just read up on sec8 on wikipedia, I guess this explains why my rent hasn't gone up in years. Which I am very glad for. It's still a nice neighbourhood, and my building/flat is still kept well enough to my liking, so I am not wanting to move out of here anytime soon. Well ... when people start shooting at each other I might think about moving to a more rural setting  Earlier this summer I caught sight of a couple of burglars. They were, more than likely, going after either money or drugs from a certain someone in my building. Think I mentioned it in a thread on here some time ago.
And the managers still respond quickly enough to when I call about noise violations (parties, etc).
just some guy filming round his house that got trashed by section 8 renters... he wasnt allowed to evict them
something similar happened here with a friends dad who rented out on of their houses to housing association / DSS folk.. damaged windows, trashed kitchen units.. that were new etc. oh and the walls that were plastered used as dart boards etc. and the thing with not getting rent direct from the council / housing folk is the tenant can get into ?1200 of arrears before they can be evicted.
that's why so many now will only rent privately with a strict contract, due to the people having more value on their deposit / what they are actually paying to live there.
although landlords can also be as bad, as I knew a tenant that was paying a landlord via dss .. they owner wasn't paying the mortgage and the person living there had bailiffs turned up.
the thing about squatters is mad also, some couple in london went to hospital as his wife was about to give birth.. and couldn't get back into their house for 4+ months due to squatters invading it the day she went in. I think it's partly how some of them totally trash a good place, and now with the pipes/rads being ripped out of places for cash, thats crazy amount of damage.

Still, I bet a load of ambulance chasers are after the lad to sue the old guy - b*******

the whole thing about "my home is my castle" I agree with, you don't know how nuts some moron is when they break into your place.
