DivIDE+ with Spectranet

edited August 2013 in Hardware
Hi all,

I've recently bought both a DivIDE+ and Spectranet from RWAP and I was wondering if it's possible to use them both together. I have a 48K+, and both interfaces work nicely when attached individually.

Chaining the DivIDE+ first to the Speccy, then the Spectranet into the DivIDE would be best, since the other way around requires about 40% more space at the back. When I do that, the DivIDE+ initialises and then continues into the normal Spectrum startup screen, but the Spectranet doesn't seem to have initialised. Plugging the DivIDE+ into the Spectranet allows the Spectranet to partially initialise, but it won't get past the DHPC request and the machine never boots totally.

Can anyone offer any ideas? I haven't yet played around with the different firmware options of the DivIDE+, but will switch to any of them if it would help.

Cheers,

Steve

DIVIDE PLUS contain throught connector with modified signals. As I know, then +5V is on this connector used instead MREQ. This modification disable any other external memory access and all next devices are usable only as I/O ports (external memory in spectranet is disabled).

Spectranet must be connect as first to ZX bus and all other devices connect after Spectranet. Original DIVIDE is usable with Spectranet then also DIVIDE PLUS theoretically can work because use identical ports and memory paging as original DIVIDE and use only one new writeable port 23(#17) with full 8bit decoder ( compatible with Spectranet ).

I mean that ZX bus is unstable... too long address lines... etc...
    Weak power supply ?

the spectranet can be configured to work with the divide connected after it, however that's only really any use if you want to use the divide as a passive disk interface. It also requires drivers for the spectranet which aren't written yet to actually do anything useful.

You can also use the divide as normal by inhibiting the spectranet's traps and allowing the divide to page its rom in. What you can't do (unless you write a divide firmware or a spectranet module to support it) is use them together usefully, since neither are aware of the other.
