I lived down that way for a while, but never went on it. I've had some choppy ferry rides around there though.
There's a Hovercraft Museum down at Lee-On-Solent, that sometimes revs up some of its old machines and takes them out onto the water. When it is open, you have to call ahead to get in, but even from the fence outside you can get quite a good view of some of the bigger ones.
