Nigella allegedly used cannabis, cocaine daily

edited December 2013 in Chit chat
Allegedly.

That makes me feel better about that erotic dream I had a few years ago. Her husband at the time nipped to the shops in the dream. I have no idea why I was round their house. It was a good dream though!

That's exactly what I thought when I saw this thread...

I met her sister once, similar features and a very nice and decent person.

Why are divorces so nasty? Why can't people just get over it? Both parties in this one have shed loads of money, no worries about keeping a roof over your head or eating, so really what's the point of slinging mud?

Can't see Nigella Lawson as a Narcotics abuser.
There seems to be very scant evidence presented to back up these claims.
Personally, I wouldn't trust her ex husband as far as I could throw him.

Why not? There are supposedly the thick end of a million cocaine users in the UK and most of them are fairly affluent, so she certainly moves in the right social circles to have easy access to the drug. And as for cannabis you can barely move through central London without getting a whiff of it from somewhere these days.

I can see where you are coming from Matt; you are certainly correct regarding narcotics abuse in high society.
However, my point is that mere hearsay evidence has been presented against Nigella Lawson.

I don't think it matters - these days it's very easy to find no matter what social circles you happen to move in.

Why should this be surprising? Gerry Ryan (Irish radio personality) was a cocaine user for years and nobody knew until he died from an overdose. As was Katy French.

I just hope Rachel Allen doesn't secretly do it too. She's my celebrity chef fantasy. :D

As a mate of mine said on facebook just now: "To be fair if my dad was a prominent member of the Thatcher government and I was married to a Saatchi I'd want to fry my brain too."

    Nuff said really :D

Got to admit when stuff like this makes the news you really wonder what the media is really doing. To be honest this is not even news worthy.

I recently tried to watch a Nigella cooking programme. I gave up after I started wanting to scream at the television: "Learn to use a knife!"

It wouldn't surprise me if she did, most professionals in the food industry favour these 2 drugs.

My wife was a chef until about 4 years ago, she's catered the Oscars and several celeb parties in LA where people in the celeb limelight have greeted their guests at the door with a hug or a handshake and a pre-rolled spliff. She's worked at Pied a' terre in London, Spago and another handful of Wolfgang Pucks restaurants, and just about everybody who worked in those restaurants were shoving coke up their noses.

Her boss at one of the Puck restaurants would vanish for hours at a time, and when he returned he'd be pink eyed and reeking of weed.

My point of view on the whole idea of doing drugs in a kitchen environment is weed would probably be kinda counter productive, as you'd be all f**ked up, and be wanting to eat all the food instead of cook it. As for the coke totally understandable, a nice buzz way better than amphetamine and you probably need something to keep you going for all those 14-18 hours shifts which you get about 4 or 5 hours sleep inbetween.

As for a TV cook like Nigella, I could see her biffing the sniff more socially, although depending on how often she actually does a show maybe she's rocking an 18 hour work day as well? If so after shoving enough snifter up yer sneck to keep you going you probably need to weed to knock you out at the end of it :D

She always talks about cooking if you haven't much time or are in a rush. What's she so in a rush for that she doesn't have time to cook, when, basically, she's a self-employed cook? With cleaning staff to clear up after her as well?

As for Gillian McKeith, you forgot to give her her full, medical, title: Gillian McKeith.

Oh, that's a tough one. At least with Lorraine you wouldn't be worrying about whether you should have covered the furniture with something beforehand.
