Oh yes, Wunderchar$ springs to mind.

Mind you I couldn't describe it as full of good care either!

You're not having a late project malaise are you? :D

All the time. The vast majority of games leave me cold. The CD-ROM era was particularly notable for really nice looking and sounding games that were virtually unplayable.

Dark Sceptre seemed like there was so much put into it, but let's face it playing it was as interesting as watching paint dry.

Not many Speccy games bore me, but the only one I can think of, which is I suppose, well crafted, is Head over Heels. It's just a whole load of no fun. Soz.

Conversely, as for the more modern games, I totally love the early CD rom stuff. Ah yeah, so much better than what gets churned out today. Gimme more 'Chaos Control,' 'Kether,' 'Silpheed,' 'Creature Shock,' 'Critical Mission.' Oooh, I loves it.

    90% of Xbox360 / PS3 stuff leaves me.. yaaaaawning.

Yeah, that's an odd one, that. Who was it that pretty much mastered the game? Whoever they were, they actually made it look quite interesting. But without the prompts from this chap, it doesn't seem to have much interactivity. Not for the casual gamer me thinx.

Silent Bomber on the PS1 was the first one that sprang to mind for me. It was very slick looking and felt like it ought to be something special but it was actually pretty boring.

Zoids. Looked the part, great licence , great reviews. There was definately a game in there somewhere, and god knows how Crash! et al found it in the short time they had playing it. For methough it was all about firing missiles, and steering them towards... nothing.

Oh well that's not surprising. Speccy games were churned out in the thousands. Most are bound to be mediocre.

Okay somebody fetch the ducking stool...
But then again I respect the quality , care and attention to detail in Skool Daze but the game sucks balls in my opinion.

if I was forced to play either long term (pardon the pun) , skool daze would win everytime... I do need to try to play sam cruise at some point :)

Hope you're not talking about the R-Swype demo Gab... LOL!

If so remember it is destined for the CGC anyway... ;)

    Burn the witch! Heretic!

For me, it would have to be Gift from the Gods and Soul of the Robot. Beautiful, colourful and lovingly rendered games. But it was all just so... pointless.

I'm going to come out of my cupboard and say Lords Of Midnight always left me, well, cold.

Whereas when I think of fun games, that's one of the first to spring to mind after Skool Daze/Back To Skool. It's the little surreal touches I liked - the Prince Charles head etc. Don't think I ever got bored with it.

Horses f'courses and all that. Weirdo :-P

To be fair, it is set in an icy wasteland.

Although I love LOM I can understand how people might find it boring as it is slow paced and a game you need to immerse yourself in.

No &/!#"! way. The game rocked.. till you completed it.. like most "find something" platform games.

Combat Lynx: it looked like there was an incredibly detailed combat simulator in there, but I couldn't find it.

Another vote for Knightlore. Too slow, too one-trick.

I'd also put in Firelord. As slick and colourful as it is, I've never managed to get any enjoyment out of it.

Another vote for Knightlore here, it was technically impressive but not actually much fun to play. More controversially perhaps are Skooldaze and Back To Skool, neither of which I could ever be bothered with beyond a few minutes.

Deus Ex Machina. The concept, the audio tape, the hype, ... and then I found just a boring game.

any JRPG ever....sorry but they promise so much yet deliver so little for me.

On the speccy things like Dark Sceptre I'd agree with...but then I never figured out how to play it properly. So instead I'll nominate the likes of Driller, Castlemaster and Total Eclipse (all the fancy 3d ones basically) as they looked amazing buuuuuuut weren't very playable

Any of the isometric games really (Head Over Heals etc) spring to mind for me! They may be technically great, groundbreaking at times, but they all bore me senseless! Nothing made my heart sink faster back in the day than waiting ages for a game to load, only to find out it was one of those style games :-(

I fully realise that I'll be in a minority here ;-)
