Tunes in on 62mhz on one channel, cant find it on the other

    They were very common. The zx81 is made for both NTSC and PAL operation and it was sold in North America by Sinclair itself via mail order.

    The zx81 and ts1000 variants sold more than a million units by 1983, making it the top selling micro for a while.

    The UK ZX81 has 2x 1Kx4bit RAM chips while the US TS1000 has 1x 2Kx8bits RAM IC.

    Furthermore, the TS1000 has a channel selector on the bottom of the case.

    I recently took part in the Hour of Code as a presenter and in the introduction I showed of both my Spectrum and ZX81 to a US audience and passed them round. I told them that they are the reason I am stood right here now.

    There were a few of the school teachers that parents with comments like 'oooh wow that takes me back I remember seeing/using one of them'. A very pleasing response, I thought they passed by in the US without much attention in the early 80s. Seems they had more of an impact than I realized.
