Welcome to the world, my son

edited February 2014 in Chit chat
Just a brief announcement that today my wife gave birth to our son, to join our four year old daughter.

All went well on the whole, though both are staying in over night. It's only a precaution, and both should be home tomorrow.

    Many thanks to all.

It's been a hectic day - Got him home at about 2 o'clock today, when he was less than a day old. Now coming to terms with having this whole new other little person in our family to look after.

Yeah my boy turned 8 last month, my little girl's 5 in two months, doesn't seem five minutes since they were born. It's a massive clich? but they grow up so quickly...

His name is Harry, middle name Joseph. I lobbied briefly to reprise some of the old names from our school days (Keith, Kevin, Neil), but I was quickly overruled. Probably for the best. I was also keen on either Sidney James, or Arthur Stanley (which was Stan Laurel's real name, and I nearly got!).

We're both very happy with 'Harry' as a name though, which is good going since I'm a teacher and as a result lots of names get automatically ruled out!

yer that'd help with seeing names that are a mickey-take magnet.

my friends niece is called "diamond" , he slated his sister for it.. as say she grows up to be ugly.. rough diamond etc..

it's funny the amount of names that are popular due to music or tv etc at the time. a friend was named after jason king the detective bloke from the 70's
  • Congratulations!
Welcome to the world little spec-chum! :-)

    Sidney James! Bwahahahaha

It's funny how names come back round, I don't know anyone of my age called Harry or Jack, they're all under 15 or over 60 :)

Makes me wonder if our generation's grandchildren will be called Keith, Kevin and Neil... or Tracey and Sharon for girls?

Mrs Spoons is a teacher, and I remember before our son was born, calling out baby names from a book and her going "Nope, I taught a kid called that, he was a right little sh*t!" to almost everything :D
