New Game: DreamWalker (Alter Ego 2)

"Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy?"

I will tell you a tale about a little boy. A little boy which was not like the other children, a boy who seemed to belong to another world…
He had no apparent friends, and it looked like he was not ever going to have any. However, he had a special friend, a friend he met only in dreams. In strange dreams like a beautiful book, full of dangerous adventures. In a magical world, where strawberry jelly grows like flowers. In a world where you can also fly. In a world where everything is so easy and simple. The boy lived only in a dream ...

Such people are called the "DreamWalkers".

This is a story about one of them.

Oh, and depending on the version, it either contains AY music by MmcM or beeper music by yours truly (without the multicolor effects, though).

Why? MultiColor works well with 48KB, did you select Spectrum48KB in emulator ?

    Very, very good job!!!!

    I love it!

Either I'm stupid enough or the multicolor thingy really doesn't work on ALL versions when I use Unreal with Pentagon 1024K. %)

Fine, gonna try a different emul for that. And the 48K mode, too.

For Spectrum 48KB use Spectrum48 folder.
    For 128, +2,+3 use Spectrum 128 folder.
    That's all folks :)

For machines with Pentagon timings use TRD from pentagon folder.
    Other clones not supported!!!

A simple but very effective game that brings the Spectrum to the forefront of modern gaming.

Damn I sound like a Codemasters slogan on an inlay card.

Brilliant! Plays like a modern game, and has a new concept!
    Great work! :-D

I will kinda disappoint you - the concept ain't new at all, but it's only because it was previously used only in the prequel. :D

Thanks to all! I'm not so good with English, so my posts are short.
    But i'm realy happy :-)

Joefish and Einar show us a doors, give us a keys. But nobody used Bifrost or Nirvana. When i see Nirvana first time i decide to support Einar!
It was sooooo hard for me, since i'm not so genius asmcoder as Einar or Joefish.
But i was trying hard, optimizing every routen, calculating Tstates...
    And here is result.
    Enjoy the show!

Every new game, tool or engine motivate me. Thanks, dudes!
    Long live speccy!

Sing it with beatiful song by Sergey Kosov (Mmcm):

    Dreamwalker, Dreamwalker...
    Where did you go?
    There is no way,
    There is only snow.

    Dreamwalker, Dreamwalker...
    It's just a dream.
    Wake up, Dreamwalker,
    Become real.

Has anybody got the 128k tap working? It seems to be broken (probably the fancy speed loader)

Hmm. It should work. It uses ROMbased loading code. No any speedups. Where did you test it?
I hope that your PayPal works good
Yep, it's ok. And i have 2 donations, wow :D Surprise!
    Thank you, mates!

Is this going to be taken up by any of the companies that make the games into physical tapes?
it really deserves a proper tape version, amazing stuff!
  • edited March 2014
Both on DIVide connected to a +3 and in Fuse and ZXSP emulators on OSX.

It seems to load the first block and then hang. In Fuse if fast tape loading is enabled, it loads something and then crashes.

The TZX file works fine in ZXSP and I snapshotted that and loaded it on the +3 without problem, so I don't think it is a machine fault.

I keep getting trapped in the top middle part of the first screen with vertical switch (cannot remember what number it is) ...and then I have to reload the game again ...is there a way to escape (like pressing x or q to quit)?

Just got round to playing this today! Awesome work! :)

Loved the first Alter Ego, and this is even better! :D

Wow, I enjoyed the version without the rainbows but it looks stunning now..!

I wonder what reaction this would have received, if you could build a Tardis, travel back to the late 80s, and slipped the game through the letterbox of one of the major magazines...

They would probably be more interested in your fully-operational time machine than any clever Spectrum colour effects.
