Jukeboxes

Anyone have one, or had one?

I'm getting a hankering for owning a 70's style one.I've got the space for it but I don't know if I ever will. I'm kind of worried it will be one of them things I'll get and once I have had it for a few months it might just sit there.

there is / was a jukebox shop in gunnersbury lane W. London, next to a mates studio.. you were looking at ?1k+ and that was years ago.
then ya gotta spend the money on the records themselves.. sod all use for jungle 12's that won't fit :D

it's kinda like ya mame cab.. how often did you actually play it?

I do expect to see you on storage wars at some point... :D thats a place you might actually find one at not an "amazing" price.

I know that shop! They are pricey.
The place I used to work at had one, from what I can recall, some are collectible others not so. 50's are the most sought after.
A friend of mine had one in her kitchen many years ago and used to spend hours looking for records for it.

As Fog says though, how often will you actually use it? I know its all retro stuff, but most folks will have MP3's of their collection, I would have thought that route would be far more convenient? Certainly would be the way I'd go.

Might be an interesting project to build a shell that resembles an old style jukebox and then fit a Hi Fi linked up to an MP3/HDD inside the shell.
I'm sure buttons on the outside could then be linked up somewhere to play songs on request.
(Mind you, some sod will probably patent that idea and make loads of dosh now.):-D
