My youth, preserved forever....!

A while back I asked for some help here and was given it! I wanted to know how to make the logo for my music channel into a Spectrum style loading screen, (many youthful hours were spent gazing at those dancing blue and yellow bars and the mysterious appearing pictures). Well, after much delay (and the birth of my first child!) here's the result. Hopefully some of you may like it.

If any of you are on facebook and want to follow the channel then it's www.facebook.com/deluxerecordings

Thanks again for those of you who helped me to get it running. 8)

The things that happen dont make any sense.

Well, in a way, nothing makes any sense.

I could tell you what it all represents if you're interested but I suspect you may not be...!

I loved both parts. Just on the right side of abstract. Cool stuff.

ok im interested, what does it mean?

Technically it's very good. (apart from the dodgy UFO graphic that zaps the telly)

the seagull is computer graphics or real? looks like graphics, but just about...
The transition from space to the ocean is very good.

    The acting is ok

But I honestly had no clue what was going on.

Cheers guys, really appreciate you taking the time to watch!

Ok, I am 43 years old (today!) and the little voice at the beginning and end of the first video, as well as the gangly kid who climbs up the wall in the second vid is me.

There are two metaphors running in parallel one is life coming from space, and climbing out of the sea. The second one is that the voices are my past, the sea is the struggle of life and the computer is my youth and I'm burying it.

The aliens are the little nagging voice of my subconscious that wants me to create something during my stay on this planet. To speak about all the things I care about.

The aliens, reactivate the computer (ie my youth) and turn it into the banana logo which is where all my energy should now go. To release my fruit as it were.

The beginning clips of outer space, zooming down to earth and crashing into the sea and the seagull are stock clips that I bought. I couldn't do that sort of thing myself, although I did all the sound fx and weaving it into the other footage which I obviously did shoot! :-D

The UFO is cheesy I know but the beam is kind of cool, I took a lighthouse clip, rotated it, cropped it and coloured it to look like it was beaming somebody down.

The aliens are also a stock clip.

The seagull is computer generated although I didn't realise that at first.

The reason for the channel is that as a musician I need a place to put all the music that I make that I don't do for money. I make an ok living writing TV music and hustling here and there with gigs etc but this is the stuff I write when I can do exactly what I want.

4 years ago, I bought a load of orange juice from LIDL, read a bunch of musical hero biographies and tried to get to the place where real songs come from. I ended up writing dozens and all the ideas I had I wrote down onto my kitchen door.

Now I know more or less how to do all the technical parts of a video, I can tell each story over the next few years.

I realise this is an insanely long and involved answer and for that, my friends, I can only apologise. I loved my Spectrum like no other possession! Hopefully for that I can get something of a pass for all this drivel I've just typed.

Please, don't bury your poor Spectrum.

Ah now it's clearer, it didnt feel like stock footage which is good.
looking forward to the next parts.

Wow, the spirit of Mel Croucher lives. I was expecting Piman to show up.

What TV music have you done?

I don't know who he (or she?!) is I'm afraid to say but I will google...

TV music, a few commercials here and there (Sharps Bedrooms, Loyd Grossman Pasta Sauce  Nintendo DS off the top of my head, I don't always know as I don't publish it myself), a daily talk show here in France which ran for a couple of years. Sky Germany used a track of mine for all their channels for a while which was GREAT for the royalties! :-D The Jay Leno Show show used a bit once plus lots of British and American makeover shows for some reason.

The royalty statements are often a bit vague, they'll just say the country.
