Did anyone collect Durell's bounty?

You all remember Durell's signature opening screen....

I wonder, did anyone collect (or even claim) the ?100 offered?

Grassing up one of your mates would cause a small depression - probably in your jawbone.

I didn't know any tape pirates, sadly. All the games I bought were legit releases. I remember being fascinated by the image portrayed in the FAST (I think) comicstrip-style magazine promotions, showing a fat, greasy looking character flogging bootleg games on a market stall.

I'm sure most of the culprits were spotty teens on school playgrounds.

Were Durrell the only company to offer a reward?

According to a massive article about Durell Software in Retro Gamer a few years back, no. Nobody ever claimed for it. The attitude of the owners was that it was an effective deterrent.

Not happy with the childish and pathetic way these forums have been manipulated by those with access to the database.

I knew someone who would have done if he could have gotten away with it.
