when someone does that, it makes me think it's none working tat...

I've had 2 over the years as a buyer , do the "I've got ya money... so what if it's broke , I don't care I have ya money"

so I will always pay with paypal. in both cases ebay told me to keep the items and got a full refund.

I love the 'SquareTrade 2 yr warranty ?174.99' on retro stuff. Am I missing something there?

I think it's an eBay cockup, I listed some electrical items on a business account a few years ago and the SquareTrade thing showed up in our listings even though we didn't ask for it!

?850! I'll be a rich man if that's what that lots going for, I've got about 5 boxes of stuff like that!

Can't believe he's telling the buyer to pay PayPal fees on top of that, unbelievable!

I guess the best way to do it these days is do what zedexspectrum said, and find a trusted seller and stick with them - that way you know what you're getting.

And don't buy from anyone who thinks a picture of the box crammed into their car boot is a good representation of the item... That is a classic

That auction has been going round and round for months, probably over a year now! It would probably have sold first time if they had just taken some decent photos of it!

this has been mentioned on the "ebay madness" thread many a time.. it's status is becoming legendary..

I like to call it "the most unloved spectrum ever"

I was thinking of making "an emergency appeal" video for it with sad music, saying you could give it a good home etc.. and that it is unloved etc :D

10% for charity, but still , it's way too much.

I sent them an email stating what the going cost for them is anyway, lets see if it goes :)

In reply to the OP, I totally get where you're coming from to be honest. Every one is out to get the ?. Everyone knows what everything is worth nowadays (or in some cases think they do?).

That being said though, I just got myself a really nice condition 48k (working) with joy stick adaptor, power cable, mono audio cable and TV cable for ?25 + ?6 P&P very reasonable price if you ask me. That was an auction though.

I think most who put buy it now's are optimistic and it only takes one person to put ?80 for a broken speccy and everyone else bases there valuation on that assuming that's what they are worth. You will notice it on other consoles too (I look at all sorts often on eBay) and they are always within mere ?'s of each other under buy it now.

It's one big game of follow the leader. People on eBay need to learn to view what the item(s) actually SELL for...

When I use BIN I use the make an offer option too, and I always put the BIN price a bit higher than I expect. Usually I end up getting the price I want then.
