What!!!! You seem to have found one of the most-talked MIA!!! Which everybody thought It was never released! I wish It can be dumped!

    http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekid.cgi?id=0011820

So it looks like the game was finally sold in shops, but I guess it was for a very short time??

Keep us posted about your progress and thanks like always for your preservation help :)

Good find! I wonder how much it would fetch on Ebay, probably into 3 figures I reckon.

If I had it I wouldn't sell it, just wake up in the night to look at it!

    One big wow !

This important game was completely MIA for 25 years. In fact nobody believed that it was released at all ! It's for sure the most important preserved thing in 2014.

Gorski, you are a preservation hero (not sure if it sounds good though ;) )

I'm at work, can't check it now. You made my day very long ;)

Out of curiosity, where did you get it? In ebay or a public place?

Im looking forward to loading it and checking it... :o

Nice one, Gorski! Loving the high res scans as well - cheers!
As for the three figure sum... would I be right in thinking it was 3.99? ;) Good find!

Also, it can't have been produced in particularly high quantities as the disk is clearly a regular Amsoft blank with the Judge Dredd sticker over the top. I've never bought any +3 disks but I'm guessing this wasn't particularly common for commercial releases.... or was it??

EDIT: Actually, I must apologise. For some reason I thought I'd played this on tape so I don't think "Nice one, Gorski!" really cuts it - an AMAZING find!! I think there have been several Dredd/Anderson games that have been cancelled over the years and I've played various different ones on different platforms in either complete or beta versions so my brain was a bit scrambled. The arcade game was cancelled, the Judge Anderson one was cancelled etc. Dredd never really had much luck, eh?

EDIT 2: Also.... and this is a bit cheeky.... but any chance of scanning some of the instructions? Or at least the controls? It's all a bit vague in terms of what you're supposed to do. I put DREDD in as my name at the start and read my mail but wasn't sure if I was supposed to have checked out other stuff before it took me to the shooty bit. Thanks :)

Amazing that stuff like this turns up 24 years later! Nice find. How do you LOG ON?
  • edited July 2014
    Type 'DREDD'

muck about with the options, then type EXIT to get to the action part of the game.
  • edited July 2014
I wonder if the Virgin Games Special sticker on the right is significant, maybe a limited release?

Could explain why it's so rare.
  • edited July 2014
Amazing! I was still expecting this to be a hoax. It was only when I finally saw the platforms and started shooting stuff that it all became real.

    Great find! :o

There is also games Bomber and Snakes hidden inside Dredd PC :) Type CD GAMES and after Bomber or Snakes.

2014 will be a glorious year for Spectrum !

(yes, I complained in another thread that the forum activity sucks a bit but now I can say it's much than rewarded in other areas )

Indeed the game was not finished 100% as there are some corrupted graphics in the first level. I managed to deactivate 3 computers and then got into a level where Fatties were raining :D

This is a great finding, Gorski, thanks for sharing, finally those screenshots in the magazines are in our emulators/Spectrums ;)

Thats a very long shot! I hope you have managed to preserve Toki, otherwise few things would be more surprising that this! ;)

It looks very interesting. In fact it looks like a game map :)

Well, it's for me definitely in top 10 or maybe even top 5 of important missing Spectrum games that could actually exist.

    I would say from memory:

    1. Mire Mare
    2. Giana Sisters
    3. Solar Jetman
    4. Judge Dredd
    5. Thunderjaws (full version)
    6. New York Warriors (full version)

If I forgot something., let me know ( as for Toki I believe it never existed).

And I'm now really puzzled what Gilby has. But I won't spoil the tension ;)

This is fascinating (& well done gorski!) but I'm amazed this can happen.

I didn't know anything about this game until now & found this thread, including posts from someone that actually worked on the game but I'm struggling to understand, even after all this time, how a game from such a big label can be so shrouded in mystery.

Not doubting, just surprised that's all, so maybe oneday Mire mare will appear!
