he was in brinsworth for some time (house for actors) , it was known he wasn't so well of late. Also the fact his house was up for sale ages ago.. obviously he was alright for money anyway, it was worth millions.
the real house that was in 10 Rillington Place , is quite close to the notting hill carnival location which is on today. they demolished the area where it was though, I used to get my 2nd car serviced on the road it became.
sad that he passed away, but if I get to 90 I'll be glad.

I watched a documentary about John Christie earlier this year and i think a block of flats stands on the site of the original house, the programme didn't actually confirm this though.

I thought it became the site of a garage, have a vague memory of a school mate telling me this who knew lots about the area. (I went to school in Notting Hill and he was a local, I lived further South). Anyway, Mrs S loves that film, for some reason. :o and RIP old bloke in Jurassic Park.
It's hard to confirm (the documentary just hinted at where it was) but the whole area was demolished, the roads were all changed and the street was renamed, all trace is now gone, the film was actually made at 10 Rillington Place, just before it was knocked down.
It's surprising, given the location's notoriety, that there's some confusion as to where Rillington Place used to be. The residents of nearby Ruston Mews make it clear that their surviving street is not the original Rillington Place, as many visitors apparently believe.
In fact, here's where Rillington Place was, indicated by the parallel lines. Number 10 was on a spot now occupied by 22-29 St Andrew?s Square (arrowed).
