New Game: First World Problems

Hi, people. A coder called Victor and myself have released another Churrera game for Speccy Jam party. Unless it's too soon to know the result of this compo, I'd like to share it with you, with permission of the author of the game.

The plot, taken from Victor's post (his nickname is Gocho) at Speccy Jam forum:

You bought the new Jphone22 and want to open it as soon as possible.
But the evil Postal Service doesn't get it to your home.
Too much waiting is turning you insane.
It's time to RESCUE your package at any cost!

Inspired by 'Gokumal' and 'Phantomas en el museo' by The Mojon Twins.

48k and 128k versions are available with same gameplay and map. 128k have some enhancements like an introduction to the game, 128k music, an 'outro' if you success in your task and a special Game Over screen when failed.

Coder: Victor Martinez Pajares
Graphics, 48k and 128k music, testing: Neil Parsons
With special acknowledgements (besides myself :) Thanks Victor so much !!) to:

Einar Saukas
and many more people i forgot."

Yes, the name is the best part of it :)

The graphics are also nicely drawn.

I love the way the effect of the street lamp is drawn. :)

I was killed by a cleopatra when I was trying to figure out how to activate a ladder that I suspect it wasn't just a decorative element

    Just enjoyed playing it through.

A nice little churro with great graphics. Thanks.

You have to jump unto the ladder and then jump again to go upstairs to the next screen. There's no way down, except falling yourself down into the hole. Also, I remind you can shot all moving baddies.

Concerning a pair of private messages received in my PM box warning about any bug in the game, I've already contacted the coder about it.

Hope it can be fixed quite soon.

Just finished the game, and it took me a while to understood how to win the game.

    It's a very nice game!

I wonder why you're using "♥x05" to display your lives if the max lives you can get is 9.

It's probably a symmetry-thing. It avoids having an extra blank block that screws the look up.

It's in fact (as far as I'm concerned) a library/framework limitation :) All number output is performed by the same routine and it's coded to have two digit numbers :D

Most functions in the library code are pretty basic to save space. To show the life meter property, the authors of this game would have had to modify the code and add a new function to output just one digit. The amount of space needed, in my opinion, is not worth spending for just removing a single zero :)

Hi. I'm Victor, developer of FWP.

I know about some bugs that aren't fixed yet.
But I'm at home with a sprained right wrist and can't code for some time.

I'll fix the bugs as soon as possible.

Oh, no worries. I was just on my third playthrough when I realised that all those hearts in the first few rooms was not worth getting. Because I already have 9 hearts and getting them doesn't increase my lives. It was just funny, that's all.

The game cannot be downloaded, is there a mirror or something? I am sure I downloaded it when it came out (I played it briefly), but can't find the copy on my disk now...
