This probably won't mean much to most people, but I'm still surprised by how little a gap my mind failed to leap over (bad syntax there, from my tiny mind! :o).
*** Warning *** Spoilers about the three Bioshock games, so don't read further unless you've played the three games
I've played through all three Bioshock games (Bioshock 1, Bioshock 2, and Bioshock Infinite), and know 1 and 2 back to front. I have only played Infinite once through, as I didn't like it nearly as much as the other two (I think B1 is great, and B2 is utterly superb, fixing most of the flaws of B1), but I remember the main points and characters of Infinite, as I do in B1 and B2.
So I was amazed when reading the B2 retrospective at:
to be told something that I'd never picked up on, even though it was totally obvious, that both B2 and Infinite have basically the same plot - you play a man who goes into a strange, utterly unknown to him and most of the world, city, to rescue his daughter from the charismatic ruler of that city.
How, when playing Infinite, did I not think "Hang on, the story here has some very similar elements to Bioshock 2?" Alright, so there are differences, such as
in Infinite you don't know that she's your daughter until the revelation, but when I'd finished Infinite I should have realised then how similar the two game's basic plots were.
BTW, in that article, the author argues that Elanor (B2) is a more interesting character than Elizabeth (Infinite), and makes some good points to back that up.
That the 'Simon' in Simon and Garfunkel isn't Simon-someone but Paul Simon, who I only knew from later solo work like Graceland. I always thought of the two acts as completely different generations.
And I just found out today that the French and Italians had 100m long submarines with Star-Trek like shuttle-bays; completely sealed aircraft hangars that let them completely submerge with the aircraft on-board (admittedly with the wings removed and stuffed in sideways): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_submarine_Surcouf
The British had one too, but it sank in trials. I'd seen ships and subs before with short catapults and reconnaisance float-planes on the deck, but never one that could seal the plane away and dive.
I'd love to see the original Kingdom Hospital. Not sure it's ever been released on DVD. I've got "King's" version. Pretty good. Can't beat the Langoliers though. Best King film ever.
That's amazing. Two pieces of stuff I love in one small mention.
Lars Von Triers Kingdom Hospital is utterly fantastic...even if it means you gotta listen to the Danish language.
I LOVE that Langoliers film. It's a very charming movie. Love the pace and atmosphere.
What did I figure out recently?...nothing new. Hmmm..really Seiddab is baddies backwards.
Why do you think I always go off on a rant about the shop every time somebody posts that clip?
Why did/didn't you like the shop?
Bloody embarrassing!......and stuff like getting dragged in their by my mother when I was a kid to get a pair of "Geeeeoooordiiiie Jeeaaaaans" that I didn't want or like.
I'd actually been in the shops in the 1st and 3rd pic when I was younger. The one in the first pic I think was the original, and if I remember rightly the other one was up this rank alleyway in the Bigg Market, next to where Farnons moved to either when they were having money troubles or they were refurbishing the original store, and they moved there temporarily. Pretty sure the original Geordie jeans closed and left the one in the Alleyway, which I'm then pretty sure went out of business, then they reopened in the original location a little while later? Or something crazy like that?
The shop in the second pic must be reasonably new, as it's next to Grey's Monument, and I can't really remember it being there. That shop was a French Connection for ages, or FCUK may have been further down the road? I can just see the entrance to Eldon Square on the far right of it. Can't remember what that place was the last time I was back in Newcastle?
EDIT: That pic could be from the early-mid 90's though, as I can't see a Costa Coffee down the road from it, and there's been one there since about 1999.
After all these years, and after owning a car for 14 years, I finally learned how to check the car's oil, coolant, windshield and radiator fluid levels.

Haha! I loved that show!
I always thought it was 'bookie street' until recently!
And I used to think Jim Bowen's name was Jim Cohen!

As Polomint will tell you...they are also good at disposing of bodies...even the crunchy bits.

Oh yes, the nose is exquisite, all grinding and cracking.. But they do a quick job so that I can feed them many bodies very quickly, ;)
Wow! Just wow!
Next door is only a footstep away.. ;)
Never really thought anything of it before, but always assumed e.w. Was a lass.
