There was an article in New Scientist a few years ago.
Headache: Mostly caused by dehydration, drink water. Maybe even (my suggestion) some sports electrolyte drink would be better
Feeling sick: Alcohol is apparently broken down in two stages. One reaction is fine, but the other one makes you feel ill. I think it's due to the by products of the reaction. However, that second reaction is run at a lower priority by the liver so having a little more alcohol gives the liver more of the first stuff to deal with and you feel less ill. This is known as hair of the dog and it works
Muscle ache: Get some sugar. A chocolate bar would do the job.
If you're looking for the article on back issues of New Scientist, it was a Christmas edition and it could have been as long as 20 years or so ago.
You can also offset a lot of the problems by drinking a pint of water before you go to bed after drinking to excess.

It depends what you've been drinking really. If you've already got 6 pints of beer in you, the only thing another pint of water is going to do is bloat you further. You're going to wake up in the middle of the night bursting for the loo anyway
That's the time to get a drink to stave off dehydration in the morning, before you crawl back off to bed :)
Maybe it's Vodka? That's a drink that's supposed to make you depressed.
Nah I don't really drink vodka (apart from one of Mrs Spoons' fruit vodkas). I think it's cheap canned lager that does it. Probably the chemicals, I've learnt to avoid anything that says "Brewed in Luton"

"The hair of the dog" (that bit ya) does come with a proviso...that you don't take it immediately after getting out of bed. In which case they recommend
"If this dog do you bite, soon as out of your bed, take a hair of the tail the next day."

I didn't know that... it's starting sound like a bit of a complicated process now!

Was it on this scale?
Arnie is waking up with an end of the world hangover here, it doesn't get any worse than this.

I just have bad depression some mornings.

..that seems to do the trick! Mind you, I rarely go out long enough to get a hangover these days.... :(

That makes sense
"If this dog do you bite, soon as out of your bed, take a hair of the tail the next day."
So I drank enough to get a hangover and I now have a hangover.
WTF was I thinking? Pillock.
So now my "cure" involves drinking Coke, listening to Anthrax and writing Selenese automated test scripts. Needless to say, it's not bloody working.
Yes, I favor the sleep-in mentioned earlier. :)
If my hangover is bad i usually stay in bed as i can't function:smile:
Are there any cures which I can try without moving from the couch?
Treat yourself to a Barclays*. It might not help, but it'll make you feel better for a few seconds :-P
*yes, that's rhyming slang
Edit: oh look, I've done 3,456 posts, that's half a SCREEN$ :D
So you went with my suggestion then!
"What's that funny noise? What are you doing in there?"
"Sorry dear, just looking for the Lemsip"
Compared to when I drink beer I feel terrible the next few days.
Wow, even thinking about white wine gives me a hangover. I stick to the beer as a rule, and/or a nice scotch.
It seems to have a lower alcohol content and tastes sweeter than normal wine.
Had a slight headache as well today but i feel fine now.
:-P
