Breakout with variable shaped bricks

edited January 2015 in New game ideas
How about Breakout but instead of rectangular blocks, more stone like ones of varying shapes? Not something I'll be working on but might be more interesting than bog-standard breakout. Just putting it out there, always interesting to hear if there has already been something like this.

Also another variation on breakout was, slightly concave cupped shaped paddles, that you could tilt to deflect the ball in different directions.

Like Breakout mixed with Tetris/Mr Driller? That could be interesting if the mechanics could be worked out.

It's like somebody crossed Breakout, with that funny art package for the Archimedes :D

What about crossing invaders with breakout ?
The player could shoot balls as in invaders only that they would destroy the ship. The goal would be to kill all the aliens hidden behind bricks while avoiding your own rebounded balls. There could also be pinball deflectors.

Batty sort of did that - you had the occasional alien who'd try to kill you, and you could kill it by hitting it with the ball.

Yeah, im just popping up an idea that obviously isn't that original, but I get any inspiration from watching old Colecovision adverts.

There was a game call Flipper Slipper for the Coleco

    Maybe a few ideas there?

Interestingly this YT video also shows Spectron which was a popular update of the Space Invaders game, very Bicolourish :-)
