The Sentinel (remake) - not inc. Sentry or Zenith

Hi,

I'm looking for a good remake of the Sentinel which isn't:
a. Sentry (I always seem to get stuck after a few levels somewhere where I need to hyperspace a few times then don't have the energy to move about!)
b. Zenith (seems heavily WIP)
c. That flash-based one.

Sentry is really quite playable despite the problem but I wondered if anyone knew of any other versions that are good, especially if available on Android.

  • For my money a lot of Spectrum remakes are just awful (think how many Chaos ones there are and they are all terrible. Even the new one on Steam only has 4 players instead of 8: pathetic!).
  • I agree. I just find playing Speccy games on my blower awkward (unless they are things like football manager). Sentinel works really well with the mouse, too.
  • I quite liked the official PC sequel The Sentinel Returns (which is more of a remake really), but the graphics were a bit depressing. The BBC Micro will always be my favourite version though.
  • Sentinel Returns was also on PS1, so emulates easily on Android.
  • I've looked before, and didn't find a remake that I like. The Sentry was OK, especially for it's time, but for some reason just doesn't 'feel' right to me. Then again, it was a while back when I looked, so maybe there's a new, good, remake available. I didn't like the Sentinel Returns (PC) for some reason(s) that I can't remember now.

Personally though, I just stuck to the Spectrum version (emulated on my PSP) when commuting, or the PC version for a change. I did have the Atari ST version on my ST, but I can't remember why I never bothered emulating that on my PC.

If anyone does find a good remake, then please post about it here.
  • I find Zenith very enjoyable and playable... to me it's more than a w.i.p.
