Weird Album Appreciation Thread

edited January 2016 in Chit chat
We have all seen them weird and awfull album covers arround, but lets explore them, what do they sound like, are they as weird and awful or funny as the cover suggests, or is it quite listenable??

Heino. Yes that man? from the funny album cover.

The Germans of WOS will know him. He was all over the telly in the 70's and early 80's..

Well:

If you work in an office I dare you to turn that one up really loud until someone comments.

and

ROLF He's great, even though I can't understand a word he's great in a very funny kind of way. If you see his youtube videos specially the ones from the 70's you'll see where Reeves and Mortimer got some of their ideas.

That's not Colnel Sanders that's Herp Alpert's Tijuana Taxi which is 'The Seminal' Tijuana Brass track. Funnily enough, my 5 year old Son likes both Herp Alpert and Jean Michael Jarre. What an eclectic taste.

We only got the a Herp Alpert record because it was in a stack of records I brought cheap at a yard sale. Who am I to tell our son what music to like!!

However, most of the Tijuana brass genre is naff or weird. Primarily because Herp had a lot of pretenders to his crown. Usually via the cheap Budget labels such as Pickwick and Windmill. Albums such as Tijuana Tribute to Lennon and McCartney are to be found at both British and US flea markets/carboot sales.

However, I would imagine that 'Got To Get You In To My Life' would lend its self well to the Tijuana Brass sound.
