Two greats from my child hood (etc etc). I loved Shelly. Never really watched All Creatures but its still part of my past for some reason.. I think my nan watched it. But for me Hardy will always be the Minister of Magic :)

I signed in to mention Robert Hardy but you have given him the honours. I was going to gripe about why he keeps getting mentioned as Robert Hardy from the Harry Potter films, then I thought well its likely a generational thing. Good link, some of the news I seen only mentioned his Harry Potter role. For me he's Seigfreid Farnon, from All Creatures Great and Small, though I am sure others remember him for other roles.
Its a bit like Gordon Jackson when he died I suppose, I mainly knew him in his role as Cowley (even tougher than Lewis Collins and Martin Shaw put together) in the Professionals, then all the older gen. was 'ahh...he was great in Upstairs, Downstairs.'
Hardy done lots of Shakespeare, as well as playing both Churchill, and Roosevelt on more than one occasion.

Changed the clip, more spooky (but humorous) from All Creatures....
Now that's sad. He was a part of my childhood. Loved his shows on the telly.
I know he felt they were beneath him, but game shows were what he really shined in. There is one one now to replace that generation of great TV celebrities that made for a Saturday night worth staying in for.
Great pick, but those disturbed mind dramas (no one believing you about something you are convinced about etc.) are more disconcerting to me than most of the standard horror fare, I have second thoughts from the first few minutes about whether my nerves will hold up. The character at the beginning is very Screwtape-ish, but the story seems like something from Edgar Allan Poe.
I think I will decline any invitations to that club, not too keen on the rules of membership (not to mention its members!) :-SS

Yes, sad and will be missed. If I recall many people liked Play Your Cards Right but would not admit it openly, others would say they had become fed up with it, until they got caught out when the night it was on got changed! That could be pretty funny.
I'll admit I've had the theme tune from Play your cards right stuck in my head since the very early 80's....Even just watching the first few seconds of that vid has made it so much worse, the tune I had in my head was right not for note. Why did I remember it in that much detail, I literally haven't seen the show since about 1982/83?....and even if it was on I'm sure they changed the tune at the start...
One of the few TV stars I will genuinely morn for. He was on TV so often he was like an uncle.
Yeah, we were talking along similar lines at work about it today when we found out. He was one of those stars that no-one really had a bad word to say against, and considering he was going for 7 decades that's remarkable. That's another thing, a big percentage of everyone alive today in Britain grew up watching Brucie on telly.

Aye, in my opinion Campbell's version is probably one of the top 5 songs of all time.

He had a lot of gusto in his character as Seigfreid, always rushing in and out, and his unpredicable temper.
RIP Brucie.

"Is Play Your Cards Right not on?"
Hope that doesn't happen now he's dead, seems to be the trend...
RIP Brucie.

He was 89, so didn't he do well? (I'm surprised nobody else here thought of that one...)
