    So far, so meh :)
  • Very impressive. You obviously have great graphic art skills to match your programming skills.

It makes me want to do something similar in z88dk sp1 for a bit of fun.

    Regards,
    Derek.

No, you probably don't want to know what I was thinking lol

  • Great new website. You obviously have an eye for great design. It's lovely to see something fresh. Love it.
  • Absolutely great!

    Very playable and...joyful!!!

    I love it!!!
  • Nice looking site. Very 'executive' in style - you sure it's not a QL site? :P

Dunno how busy you are but have you thought about entering the WoS logo contest?

Also, looking forward to trying out the game when I have some time. Your games are always a lot of fun. :)

  • Nice game, I died at the end of the level, I tried to land on the exit after trying to shoot it a couple of times, and not hitting it dead center.

If you remove the CLEAR at line 10, and replace the CLS in line 3 with the CLEAR. The screen will be cleared before the loading screen loads, and the loading screen won't disappear when loading.
  • Good game indeed. Spent the first few screens avoiding the walls then crashed into one without an explosion. Can now happily floor hop to grab some items.

Feels similar to Cyberun without having to spend the first 2 hours collecting boosters, lasers and the launch stages.... just rob the planet dry.
  • It's really good, but quite hard in places.

After a few goes I managed to complete the first level, although I avoided a pickup and fuel in the bottom left of one screen.

I find the horizontal shots very difficult to drop past - I think it will benefit from an infinite lives poke.
  • Hint: Preserve fuel by sliding down the slopes :-)
  • Is it my imagination or does it move a wee bit faster if you "thrust" along the ceiling?
  • Very good game... thank you.

It almost has the feel of Jetpac with bombs instead of gun.
  • really good game with a one more go factor.cheers
  • Thanks for the game. The first screen is bugged, you can cross through the slope.
  • Congratulations.

    Very addictive and good game.

    Thanks!!!

I think @polomint is right that there should be a trigger warning for anyone who has been watching too many videos filmed from a certain point of view :)

    To the safe space...

  • Like Airwolf, only more fun.

You can use that as a quote if you want :)

Looks good but very tricky. A few points...
    - As has been suggested, do the CLEAR before loading the screen.
    - Your PAUSE 0 causes a problem if the user presses SPACE to skip it as that then aborts the next LOAD. If you really want to pause on the loading screen, either do a loop until INKEY$<>"" just before you call your machine code, or do a wait for a keypress as the first thing your machine code program does.
    - There seems to be something that clashes with ULA+ 64-colour commands - possibly a stray OUT command - but in an emulator that supports ULA+ colour palette settings, everything turns black.
    - What's the point of the bombs? They don't seem to blow anything up?
    - And as has been suggested, dropping past the horizontal guns (since they can't be bombed) is extremely hard!

  • Bombs are used to exit the level and to blow up a few of the aliens in later levels.

Also the POKE 23739,11, should be POKE 23739,111, to stop the "Bytes: DCR " message from printing over the screen. Swap the CLS with CLEAR, remove the PAUSE 0, and POKE 23739,111.

Removing the PAUSE and not correcting the poke caused a crash on loading here.

not that hard imo, just requires a bit of timing

and as Gubbins said the bombs blow up aliens, but not the guns...
  • Found a bug, got stuck here, ship cannot move.
    dcrbug.bmp

Also, I made a custom loader for it. Standard speed, but can be made turbo with 1 byte change.

  • I'll fix the bugs asap. Cool loader :-)
  • I seem to be doing this a lot recently (not complaining, keeps the old artistic juices flowing, plus the frequency of my output indicates an abundance of games being released), but if you need a cassette cover designed, give us a shout.
  • New version done - uploading now. Links soon. I have been trying to get physical versions of my games released for 12 months, but either no one replies to my emails or they say they'll get back to me and never do!! If someone does come forward, then I would need a few inlays :-)
  • Version 1.1 now available. Thanks to all for suggestions.
    Download here.

Still a little bug on the first screen: you get stuck on the top left slope. Sorry for being a little bugger :)
More details, some ore lose colour when contacted by aliens/robots and is not repainted, it feels weird that bombs come back disappearing if you move he ship.
BTW the feeling of crossing slopes to explore caves was really nice, it'd be fun to find different tools next to ore to dig caves, another incentive to collect them apart from improving your score.

  • Ta for the cool game, glad you got around to finishing it.
Is it my imagination or does it move a wee bit faster if you "thrust" along the ceiling?

    I was wondering the same.
