Spacewalk video looks fake

Ha look at this space walk

Watch the video for one minute At 4 hrs 11 minutes
you see the grey thing on the left has bouyancy! Because it is filmed in a large swimming pool.

The grey thing doesn't react to momentum,it just keeps going in the same direction because it is floating.

The astronaut even bats the object down and it floats right back up again

Er, the "grey thing" is attached by a semi-flexible cable, hence it keeps springing back into place.

More importantly, if NASA have such sophisticated cameras that can produce crystal clear images underwater, why are they always complaining about lack of funding, instead of selling the technology to wildlife film makers/sports channels/specialist pornography producers? ;)

The thing that tends to dispel most space conspiracies isn't technological or scientific; its the virtual impossibility of trying to keep hundreds of thousands independent scientists, NASA employees and contractors from blabbing the 'truth'.

Everyone has a crap game inside them, let yours out!
  • yes, all of established science and technology is an elaborate global conspiracy. That is clearly the simplest explanation! ;p
  • Wait a minute, wasn't the 1969 moon landing faked? :))

Also the fact that you can LOOK UPWARDS AND SEE THE F-ING SPACE STATION... #-o

It looks more like the grey thing is moving and then the cable follows,

If the cable was leading the motion the grey thing would be lagging behind.
but its clearly leading the motion.

this is underwater and it looks crystal clear
They even have the ISS in the swimming pool (or Neutral Buoyancy Lab)

Look at the video in the OP and youll see no difference in video quality, in fact the space footage from fixed cameras is shot at very low resolution

  • yes, they train in a pool because it is a good simulation of space. Of course real spacewalks looks like the ones they do in the pool :p
  • what is the grey thing, is it magnetic?

  • ok can you just answer this question....WHY would they fake it?

Duh! Because the alien overlords won't let us use real science, of course.

Please think before you post. Or consult the entrails of a rooster to see if your future post is well recieved.
  • Where's the bubbles in the 1st video, which you can clearly see in the 2nd video?

Why would NASA film/release a 6.5 hour video and lie about it's authenticity?

I can only assume you've had another WoS username in the past of cornishdavey!!!

  • apparently all space travel is fake, because you cant get past the van halen radiator belt.

Perhaps they should try and just jump.

    (I got the joke btw).

  • All of the bubbles in the second vid are from the helpers who are wearing scuba gear.

The 'space' suits have a tube which draws away the CO2 so they dont produce bubbles.

I dont know why they would do it, but that grey thingy is floating!
and the water footage is clear close-up but murky in the distance
The space footage also looks murky in the distance and low res cameras are used for anything but a close up!

Which should be your first and biggest clue that it isn't in fact fake
    =))
  • Just watched it again and bloody hell you're absolutely right. It is a total fake and quite clearly filmed underwater.

If you watch at about 2 hours 47 you can quite clealry see in the background moving from right to left a giant squid being pursued by a great white shark...

The "grey thing" is clearly on a sprung, retractable, aluminium tether, you buffoon. You can see the big white arrow on the back of it showing the direction it's wound on the spindle, and the cable itself under tension.

    HAHA so it is =))
  • I expect that NASA added that in afterwards with CGI :)
  • Heheh! Pretty sure that entire grey box is just a retractable cable mechanism -- the big switch on the front labelled "U" and "L" presumably locks/unlocks it. The animators probably added that detail on as well though :-D
  • If Pixar did the animation then there'll a couple of toy story characters hidden in the vid somewhere.

There's a prize for the 1st WoSser to find one...

the cable doesnt look like its under tension, if you watch the footage you see that the grey box goes away then snaps back because it reached the end of the tether, the tether just looks loose

There's clearly only one plausible explanation...

  • one of the conspiracy dilemmas is , did we (a) never go to the moon. or, (b) we did go to the moon, and found aliens there. but you can't claim both of these so you have to pick a side. on balance I think 'we never went to the moon' is the less barmy of the two,Im going with that one!
