Flying Ant Day 2016

Saturday16th July 2016, 7:15pm Flying Ants Day...
everywhere in both the back and front garden, climbing up the walls, over flowers and, yeah flying everywhere. Blackbirds are having fun, running around, pecking and eating the little buggers.

We have loads on the patio. I have spent the afternoon pouring boiling water over them. Anyone know of any cures.

Cool, too late for a pic Mat?

I've never seen flying ants in that kind of abundance since I was a kid. I remember being totally covered in them in the backstreet. I wonder what's happened.

I've yet to encounter any problem that can't be solved with hot urine.

Actually yes - as long as they're not in the house leave them be!

Hope you don't get them round your 'parts', but if you do, I wouldn't recommend boiling water.

Open the windows they come in the house so they need the boiling water treatment.

  • All gone and flown the nest.
Just the worker ants on patrol going in straight lines from one hole to the next.
There are a few ant nests that didn't have flyers today, so maybe tomorrow.
If there are some I'll try and get a few photos and if possible a video.
  • We only had a few down here. One is still wandering around the patio, looking a bit lost.
    Sod it!

  • Just like 1965 they actually covered everything, the outside world was invisible. It usually means a storm with strong winds is coming, or the end of the world, I get confused. Pours boiling water in my pants and waits for Armageddon, I'm just an Armageddon Man.

Sadly there is NO cure, for boiling water, you will just have to let them suffer a painful death !
