Confused about Space Racer (Loriciels) dump

I was looking that game on Infoseek, and it seems that there is no good dump.

Infoseek says that original releases are MIA, but it has a (corrupt?) tzx and Proein releases. All releases (including those on Simulation Hits) that I've found (.tap, .tzx, .z80, looking into SPA2, TZX Vault, WOS and the archive), seems to have a defect on loading screen. The lower two lines of screen are missing, and those lines are later used as part of the dashboard.

Strangely, if you look in the pictures of the Microhobby review, the dashboard is cut, but the preview article on Your Sinclair shows the complete dashboard. I guess those images are not mock-ups (because on other versions the dashboard is on the upper side of the screen).

Looking into the "corrupt" Proein releases, the loader and entry point seems fine. It doesn't seem a transfer (multiface) dump, but it also could have been "fixed".

So... is there any proper dump of this game with the complete screen? Or it was released with that defective screen? Does anybody have a original tape and check it out?

TR-DOS version look ok at first sight. But I don't know if it is restored, or original.

Now it's time to make a "proper" tzx file...

  • Their other game, Mach 3, seems to have the same problem with its loading screen, although in this case the status panel isn't part of the screen. Again, the intact screen in seemingly present in TR-DOS adaptations, e.g. this one

Also, both .TAPs from the WoS page appear to be the same Spanish re-release from Proein
  • Ohh, sadly I read this today when I am leaving Spain back to Germany, as my original copy is in Granada at my mother´s house :(

I will try to remember next year.

    It seems restored, not original.

Anyway I prepared "bugfixed" versions of both games and uploaded them here. This will have to do, until Ivanzx obtains the original releases.

  • A quick fix to Space Racer:

Quick fix, done with ZX Block Editor and HxD. I've done it to make a "safe" copy that wouldn't break anything. -> http://www.mediafire.com/download/budp3nkic0esqdc/Space_Racer_(pantalla_OK).tzx

(Almost) Unprotected game. I've removed non used memory areas to make a copy with standard loader, but right after loading it starts to decrypt/modify some data. It seems to work, but I'm not really 100% sure -> http://www.mediafire.com/download/yrwcktndv1igusm/Space_Racer_(unprotected).tzx

Note that these copies are NOT good dumps from original media. It's a fix that restore loading screen and dashboard (copied from that russian TRD files).

BTW, the game uses a full colour loading screen, and right after loading is converted to a bi-color one (yellow/black). The colour screen is not well drawn, you can see "bricks" of colour everywhere :( I prefer the yellow/black counterpart, it looks better.
