So there's this new game that seemed to come out of nowhere (at least for me) called Harbinger: Convergence. It's a Rex style game. Did you try it? Did you figure what to do yet? It's pretty nice.
As for the game itself, well a lot of effort went into some parts of it while other parts were completely neglected.
It has definitely Rex feeling. I suppose many people would say that the graphics are good although for me personally they are a bit too messy an not clear enough. At my first go I walked into this cyan floor and it was suddenly game over. Is it water?
Enemies are weird, sometimes they walk right when facing left etc. Sometimes they are stuck on some platform and just wait and do nothing while you shoot at them. And people say that there are bugs too.
But anyway I'm always grateful when someone does a new game for Spectrum. Thanks for that. And maybe there is some chance of polishing it a bit more? ;)
Sorry about the cheap plug but i did a quick review on the game (link below) and was told they are fixing the bugs.
I think if the bugs were fixed this would be a lot better and I would even consider buying it with all the stuff they included in the zip. Very professional, but I feel they worked more on the extra's than the game at the moment.
Still, the game has a lot to be praise for even at this early stage.
Well, my score for the game would be a lot higher than that review though. There are glaring factual errors in it. For example, the game doesn't have 160 screens, not even close. Or the fact that the engine used is an old engine (it's not).
My review of the game, as it is now, would be short: I'm not recommending it until the important bugs have been fixed. Most people are only playing the game only a few times, so I hope they get a better impression of the game. The game as is now, is probably not how it's been intended, so I'll prefer people to wait before playing this. When the bugs have been fixed, it would be one of the better games released this year, likely in the top 25%.
tl,dr: We should give him time to fix some of the bugs first, then it's worth recommending.
Actually, this is nice and promising game, better than Rex at some point.
Of course, still needs to be polished but has a very good potential.
Good job. :)
It looks good, but obviously very buggy too. The bugs can't possibly come as a surprise to the developers?
...perhaps they should have spent a bit longer fixing the issues instead of rushing it out in this state.
Comments
the enemies who are moving back look very funny,
aren't able to use a mirror ?
and
(has jumped up on the first screen)
at this point game freeze with snow
Also I got stuck inside walls somewhere further on.
It looks nice for a churerra game.
Oh, and now I reached the end of the first part, and it's the only place it doesn't show the ending...
And in the meantime got stuck many, many times.

Yes, there is a game here. The bugs and instant death let it down.
