Let's hope it's just a temporary blip in the supply of this wonder-food.

Looks like an RTC to me, a road traffic courgette !

The Botanical family of the Courgette is also a Cucurbit, and there is a " bit on the curb " so it is technically a curb bit...........shall I get my hat and coat ?

  • I have a confession to make, I grow loads of the things every year, including Marrows and Pumpkins and Cucumbers. My secret ingredient is Cow Poo Stew, it is made with a bucket of cow poo, and liquid seaweed, stewed in a bucket for at least four weeks before planting and stirred once a week. It smells like poo though, which is hardly surprising, I put a spadefull into the planting hole and then, just like Jacks beanstalk, they reach into the clouds and I can get to the Goose who lays the golden eggs. Or did I imagine it ?

    Pics or it didn't happen.
Also, here's your chance to sell your last summer's back catalog of courgettes at ludicrous prices.
Also in particular, you are C.M.O.T. "The secret ingredient truly is 'organic'" Dibbler, and I claim my fiver.

    What now?
  • Courgettes are crap :p

    I'm glad there's a shortage....Zucchini's on the other hand :))
    Every night is curry night!
  • In Grey Key's case, your statement is 100% spot on.

I love Zucchini's latest album, it is packed full of good tunes !

    Called Melon in a basket,
    Patty-pan is the best track.
followed closely by the Chris Rea cover Auberge-ne,
and not forgetting the Loofah, doopha song

  • Been reading about the shortage of courgettes and spinach. It's not really going to be a big problem as I can't stand either.
but as Mrs S and I are both off work poorly, we were discussing what food items we would miss if they were in short supply. Maybe eggs or cheese and onion crisps?
  • Well now the Chickens are on strike you will find out soon enough

  • Is that British chickens? If so, that's ok cos the UK imports most of its eggs from Poland. But she just got some yesterday so we''ll be alright for a bit.
if they don't start laying soon, they'll get bunged up. It won't be a long strike or 'lay to rule'.

Courgette crisis will be over in 6 - 8 weeks.
  • It will be of little difference when the Meteor hits Poland soon, no chickens = no eggs

  • There seems to be a impending doom of food shortages all over the world. Rice, coca, oranges, wheat, courgettes, cabbage and coffee have all seen bad harvests over the last few years.
