Alien8 influences on Starquake?

Just reading the wikipedia page on Starquake. Blob is obviously from the jetman comic in Crash, and Oliver Frey's Olly Octopus is hidden away at the bottom of the map. But what is there to do with Alien 8? Yes, it does feel very much like an Ultimate game (But then Wizard's Lair is an obvious rip on Sabrewulf and Atic Attack, so yeah) but I can't see any blatent ripped graphics or sound. What am I missing?

Both have spiky eggcups as deadly obstacles. That's all I can think of offhand.
