Well I get two blank windows. The left one has a red bar at the top the right one doesnt but neither shows anythig and the controls dont show me anything I recognize but perhaps I should try again.
Nope. Tried pressing button ROOT and C nothing happened. Theres a little button C at the bottom right, pressed that got taken to Configuration but no help to me I'm afraid. I need instructions! Wheres the bloody manual...
Thanks Mousey his channel has a lot more very useful video demos about using Amiga software though I wish I had someone able to hold my hand and guide me as I'm really floundering with WinUAE.
Next time - if there is one - I think I'll do a total conversion so the PC becomes an emulated Amiga ONLY. I do so wish I still had my original 1000 even though it would probably be a nightmare of electronics fixing.
I'm so bloody desperate I'd even do one of those online connects that lets someone else get complete remote control of my hard drive and sort the mess out. Its a wonder this machine still functions considering the tangled mess my directory structure and files are in.
No, not really, I did this once before with a good mate who said my Win Registry needed sorting out and that was a bit of a disaster requiring a re-install eventually (back when you could still get Windows on discs)
We may all slag off MicroSoft quite often deservedly but considering the chaos people like me create through ignorance, its a tribute to the software that it doesnt go belly up. I dunno if you watched that video you recommended - thanks again - but its no simple task, half the time I wasn't even sure that I understood the explanation and I sure as **** wouldn't dare risk doing all the configuration, directory creates and deletes he recommends.
I'm strictly a point and click man and if it doesnt work right away then it gets deleted!
Rubbish! The whole appeal of the Amiga originally was its simplicity and user friendliness.
I never had a problem running the software on my 1000, it was the PC that forced me to have to deal with the command line and I did but I was a lot younger then.
Its not so much a lack of patience SKR as a lack of energy.
The Spectrum (in the scheme of things) was simple, The Amiga on the other hand was incredibly more difficult to comprehend (apart from putting the floppy in and hoping it worked)
Multitasking, windowed environment (intuition) and still access to the fundamental operating system (CLI/SHELL) which is where it seems to me you lost the plot.
Sometimes you need to progress below "point & click" to see what is under there, afterall you seem to want to "program"
If that is what you want to do, then regardless of the platform, you need to research it and UNDERSTAND it.
It takes time and patients, even now very few people can program the Amiga well because of the complexities of the custom chips and the way they interact with the CPU.
Another thing...............
I won't respond to any more of your posts, simply because you started your last one with "Rubbish"
Simply because you seem to want help, and then disrespect the people who are trying to help you.
Remember, If you keep doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome each time.....................

You clearly never tried compiling C code on an Amiga then. When using Lattice C, it was all command line back in the 90's!!!!

Well I'll leave you to work it out.
Good evening.
SKR, I don't think Mike was saying 'Rubbish' in a personal and disrespectful way, just as an emotional response. Try not to take it personally, it is very hard to get these things across in text without it sounding cold or unemotional. I read it as just a 'I don't agree with you' kind of way (Mike correct me if I'm wrong). Keep adding your input as I found it quite an interesting point of view.

I have always gone out of my way to be polite and thankful to those who are helpful so I decided not to respond because there could be many reasons for my response to be misunderstood.
Perhaps its a generation thing? 'Rubbish' was meant light heartedly

And therein lies the problem.
Working with computers is (almost) totally a "problem solving" exercise which in its self is a learning experience.
Perseverance pays off, getting annoyed encourages failure.
