Any Jeff Minter fans here?

Did you play anything by Jeff Minter and Llamasoft?

Paul Docherty (the artist formerly known as Dokk) is doing a Kickstarter for a documentary movie on the Yak and his games.

used to love metagalactic llamas battle at the edge of time on the speccy, dabbled with one or two on the C64, ive recently aquired two versions of Matrix for my Vic20 collection (Llamasoft 1983) - LLA 12005 (in clamshell box) (plus one in normal box that doesnt feature a catalogue number) no idea on the differences tbh

  • I was a Vic owner before a Speccy owner and had the delights of Grid Runner, Matrix, Abductor and Traxx. All very enjoyable arcade games.
    Sod it!

  • Not particularly a fan, some of his ideas were nice, but the guy seems to come across as a bit of a self-absorbed twat tbh....

I knew of the chap and that his games regualrly featured lamas or was it camels? But most of his games seemed to aimed at the C64 rather than the Spectrum. I do remember a GRIDRUNNER game that we rented but I don't recall if it was a Jeff Minter game.

Didn't he also do ColourSpace on the Atari ST? That reminded me of a rather nicely done Game of Life with music.

  • The only game of his I ever played was Llamatron on the Amiga, which was a pretty cool Robotron clone.

Yep, that's the impression I got.
I wanna tell you a story 'bout a woman I know...
  • Just discovered Color Space also came out on the BBC.

Could something like this be done on the Spectrum, using Raster-timed techniques to increase resolution? The BBC has much the same palete as the spectrum..

Yeah, in 2019, if you can do something, people will paint you as one. I doubt that people can do anything without being self-centered. Therefore it's an essential quality.

That being said. I must say I have never played any of his games either.
