Warning! Tainted bags of flour alert

General Mills is once again asking shoppers across the nation to check their pantries for flour that could be potentially contaminated with life-threatening bacteria.

"The recall is being issued for the potential presence of E. coli O26 which was discovered during sampling of the five-pound bag product," General Mills' officials said in a statement posted to their website.

The tainted flour is in five-pound bags stamped with a "best if used by" date of September 6, 2020, according to the FDA. Shoppers should be able to find the product's UPC, 000-16000-19610-0, somewhere near the barcode on the exterior of the bag.

Safety officials are asking home cooks and bakers to check their stores given the prolonged expiration date; if you're one of the unlucky shoppers who have purchased a bag, you should either dispose of the product immediately or bring it back to the point of purchase for a full refund.

  • I know that there are other Speccy fans here like myself who are in the US and given the 'what's on your saucer' thread it seems likely some are cooks, so I thought this worth passing on.

Oh I never said it was not worth mentioning , as it is. :) I "liked" it at the time to say "thank you"

I merely mentioned those links I posted as that's what I occasionally glance at, mainly the food one rather than the allergy one (in my case)

Some being the operative word. Have you seen some of the abominations dishes in that thread?

  • Suffice it to say, those pictures of your creations have been preserved, zx1 ;)
  • I must of missed or ignored that topic/thread. I might go and look later now I'm aware of it.

I doubt there would be much there that is worse than some of my previous attempted culinary creations.

In my family my shrimp and banana curry holds the record for being the worst dish devised by man! Well it seemed like it should work, they're both sort of sweetish tastes, right? I think the saffron and lemon flavoured rice was going a bit too far...well I thought it would offset the sweetness.

It was -ucking horrible and we had to eat as much as we could manage to because there wasnt anything else.

No worries, thanks to sites like photobucket (where most of the pictures in that topic were hosted) being a shadow of their former self, most of the pictures aren't visible anymore. The very first picture starting that particular thread is still there though ... thread starts here.

  • Its good to see a lot of the photos back now that Photobucket fired their executive team and did a 180 got rid of those awful placeholder images, when they realized their customer base was largely gone.

I'd not noted it but I suspect over the time most who had pics they still wanted to use on that site had migrated them elsewhere. :)
It was the site I'd of always used donkey's years ago but once they started changing the layout a few years ago with excess ajax and/or java it caused me annoyances, final straw was the paid option. :D , Come to think of it I seem to recall using it in the dial-up days too, could be wrong on that.

Sometimes I feel I've got to
    kneed away I've got to
Get away from the dough that you bake that makes me **** my pants
    The bread we shared
    Seems to spray everywhere
    And I've lost my apatite
For I toss and turn I can't bake tonight

Once I kneaded you (I kneaded)
Now I got the runs from you
    This tainted bag you've given
Has given me all boy could take
Take my belly ache and that's not nearly all

    Oh tainted bags
    Tainted loaf
Now I know I've got to
Not kneed away I've got to
    Get a refund
You don't really want it any more from me
    To make things right
Take this pill to stop runny shite

And you'll think love is to kneed
But I'm sorry I won't bake that stuff

Once I kneaded you (I kneaded)
Now I got the runs from you
    This tainted bag you've given
Has given me all boy could take
Take my belly ache and that's not nearly all

    Oh tainted bags
    Tainted loaf
    Don't touch them please
I cannot stand the way they make me sneeze

You ate them though now you squit and so
Now I'm going to return my bags and go
    Tainted bags, tainted loaves
    Tainted bags, tainted loaves
Fill my pants like a baby, tainted bags
Never bake again with them, tainted bags
    Tainted bags
    Tainted bags
    Tainted loaf

Well I was half right I suppose :D

That reminds me a bit of that Blackadder sketch where he asks about his punishment for shooting the carrier pigeon and says something like "Well, I was half right"
